Just out of curiosity how much does your average 9 ball singles league pay out in prize money?

The only 9ball singles leagues that go on are the APN's. I think.... It would be a good idea if Rileys would do 9ball district leagues of there clubs in there areas/regions.... It includes Team League, singles KO, Doubles KO (could be made scotch Doubles) Team Cup KO. At the end of the season top what ever teams, indivduals, pairs qulifiy from each district to a Grand Final held at a Rileys vennue over a few days to become the ultimate overall Rileys League Champions, Cup KO Champions. Doubles KO Champions & Singles Champion. What does everyone think??? Good idea or not??? ----------------- Trust Me! [ This message was edited by: Simsman2 on 2006-10-05 12:41 ]

When did you post that? I never saw it? Sorry Life! My local handicapped league, Chichester, charges £4 entry every Wednesday and pays out all the entries in Prize Money and then adds it's own money to an end of season "Big One" for the top 16 finishers in the league. It averages anything between 20 and 30 runners on a Wednesday, sometimes as many as 40 - so if, for example, there's £100 in the pot they split it £60/£30/£10 between the Winner/Runner-Up/Plate. There's normally a little more cash than this but I'm just keeping it simple here. Anyone else? ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Why not just let APN do it?

The Derby one runs like this......... 2 divisions of 12. Everyone plays each other once (11 matches), each match race to 8. Top 4 in each division goes into an end of season "Grand Final" which is a double eliminator one day event, for the bulk of the prize money. The rest go into a plate event for the remainder. So basically everyone has a chance to win something and, ultimately, 12 out of the 24 entrants will win a cash prize. Pretty good value for £42.50 entry fee if i do say so myself. Total prize fund is just over a grand

We used to run a 10 week league 4 times a year up here in Aberdeen. However, sadly this has had to come to an end due to lack of committee members in our association.
When we ran it, we charged £5 per head and deducted 50p per player for our funds (to buy equipment, trophies etc). Each player also paid £2.50 for a bar voucher which they would redeem at the bar (guaranteed takings to compensate for the 4 free tables)
We would cap the weekly prize money at £50 (£25 winner, £15 r/up, 2 x £5 for semis)
The rest of the cash would go to a prize fund at the end of 10 weeks which would be split between the top 5 finishers (50%, 25%, 15%, 7.5% & 2.5%)
Based on 25 players on average per week would pay out £50 per night plus a £620 prize fund for the end of the 10 weeks. 30 players on average would provide an £850 prize fund, and so on.
This is of course all dependant on getting free tables.
If you need any more info, PM me.

In the APN-Leagues a 16 player league pays out £608.00 and 9 out of the 16 get some kind of remuneration.
Players are split into 2 conferences of 8 and play 14 matches in the conference over 7 weeks.
Top four progress to main playoffs for the vast majority of the cash and the remaining players playoff for the remaining cash.

Sounds good Teach. Did you get that idea from me or was it the other way around? Lol. I think having play-offs is a much more exciting way to run leagues like this. My English pool league is going over to that system next year cos it gets boring after a few weeks when everyone knows whos likely to win it. With a play0off system no one knows til the final match!

APN-Leagues has always operated to a playoff system, where possible, since the first ever league back in 2005. The only leagues that don't have the system are those with 10 or fewer players.
