After playing for a few years now, the most crazy break happened to me the other night, i broke off, and the white landed on the rail spinning and just sat there. I must of played god knows how many racks and this is the first time its happened. Is this a common happening? cos i've never seen it before.

It happened in our league a few weeks ago. I took a picture of it on my phone as I couldnt believe it could be possible! There must have been some amount of spin on that cue ball to make it sit there!

I must admit I would never have believed this was possible on a SAM table with sloping rails until I saw Steve do it last night. To add to the amusement the chief tournament director, a certain Mr D'vali, told the other player he had to play from there

Ahh, it was good for a laugh! Does anyone know the actual rule though? Is the cueball out of play under BCA rules if it finishes on top of the rail?

Well all I can say is the "King of Spin" ..... he could probably stop the white on a golf tee with the amount of spin he generates on the break

It has to be a foul, as it technically has left the playing surface. ----------------- Every man dies, not every man truly lives...

I have been running a tournament for the last 4 years at Leeds Rileys. Its every 2 weeks for the 9 Ball League and alternate weeks is American 8 Ball.
We are on the 5th Season now with nearly 60 registered players.
Season 1 winner: Steve Higton Season 2 winner: Martin Chapman Season 3 winner: Sy Widlo Season 4 winner: Me Season 5 winner: ?
A Season consists of 10 events with ranking points available for the top 3 spots and trophys. £10 entry, all prize money paid out save for £10 and a handicap system is in operation. Typically 14 - 20 players per event.
We have had players from all over the country take part. Lots of the Manchester clan have been up too. Its a great night and a lot of fun. Pretty relaxed atmos but good match practice.
Come one, come all. I should advertise this a bit more!!

Hey guys My good friend, Bruno is right, it is in fact a ball in hand because the cueball came to rest on the rail top and not the bed of the table I have had this happen to me only once and ball in hand was given to the other guy on that occasion , but it is pretty funny to see it happen because like Riggers has said, it's the last thing you'd expect to see happening in tables with rounded rail tops lol I hope that this be of some use for any future occasions that this may happen Willie P.S. thediamond, do they still have the 9ball tourneys at Northern SC and American Pool club in Leeds? , it seemded to be a nice enough venue, but hadn't ever got the chance to go to one of their events yet

Wizard, 9 ball tourneys are not plentyful at the Northern but do exist now and again. Nice looking club. Best place in Leeds is RILEYS. Not as fancy as the Northern but the staff and patrons are much nicer
