looking at the votes cast so far the pairing of Peach/Davis is leading the pairing of Ronnie/Hundal
Reading some of the bygone threads on Pro9 Davis has had his fair share of critics ie should not be in Mosconi team and if he had to qualfy for an event lwould have difficulty ect ect
any opinions on why this contradiction has happened?

I voted Peach/Davis my reasons where that Daryl is British#1 and a great tactican, Davis has played Scotch Doubles before is tacticaly sound and should gel with Daryl realy well i think.
The pairing of Ronnie and Raj is a litle more unpredicatble, undoubtably two of the finest cueists at the tournament but they are both full of flare and you wonder how well they will gel. Also ronnie is very new to Pool and openly admits he is still learning the tactics.
I think Scotch doubles is played completly different to standard singles, and it is often the most solid pairing compared to the best individual players that will win the majority of the time.
Therfore my vote goes to Peach/Davis.

We shouldn't have two teams in the comp in the first place!! World Cup of Pool, but uk get to enter twice, stupid if you ask me.

Does England have two teams to compensate for the fact that two snooker players are playing - avoiding the usual argument about snooker players taking up pool players spots.
I know I used to think that way!
In recent years, frankly, I've had a change of heart, and I'm over the moon that we have two top snooker players acting as ambassadors for our sport - they will draw attention to our game - and we've got the same number of pool player spots as everyone else!

I couldn't agree more. Ronnie has been saying publicly and privately that he really loves this challenge and wants to better himself. Following his recent exploits at the IPT and EPT he has said he has so much respect for our top 8 ball players and he really wants to learn from them. For someone as talented as he is this is a refreshing attititude and his love for the game can only be beneficial to the sport.

A "World Cup" or "World Championship" loses all credibility if a nation is represented multiple times. Not only that, but the country responsible for this farce isn't even represented by pool players! Shame on you England, the tournament will regain respectability the moment both English sides go out. Come on Pat & Michael against those Dutch!

but like riggers said its great that players like ronnie and davis play its all about marketing the sport and if hendry played then there is not many bigger draws of a crowd than the great man
after all he is a fantastic cueist and i bet a couple of weeks pratice and he would do just fine
this is not to say that micheal and pat wont do the scots proud

Very true mate... I was just having a laugh.
I heard Alan McManus turned up at a Scottish 8 ball tournament on Sunday and got to the final. Michael beat him.

I spoke to Stephen in Las Vegas and he was adamant he had no intentions of taking up pool. His comment was that it was like a draughts player taking up chess. He had a quick knock about with Ronnie's cue and laughed at the tip until Ronnie pointed out he was using his break cue! [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2006-08-24 08:21 ]
