I had been reading a thread in the 9ballpool.co.uk forum and there was a thread about 3 cushion billiards and as I was reading it, I started remembering reading a Robert Byrne book, 'The Wonderful World Of Pool & Billiards' and reading about carom tables being heated to make them much faster and I have began to wonder why no-one has thought about the idea of a heated pool table or if they have, why has no-one used this method to keep a table playing good and fast? I have pondered about this concept for a while now and I have never realy thought too much of it, but I was wondering what you guys think about it? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this Take care everyone Willie

The only heated pool you want is the one to go swimming in!

dont know if this is a wind-up but they do have heated tables, the two brunswick gold crowns in Victoria Rileys are both installed with heaters.......basically they are similar to fluorescent tubes

It's definitely not a wind up , I already know of carom tables that are looked after or are good quality have heaters built in, but what I'm wondering is, why not have the same built in heaters for a pool table, for example, The Gabriels company, their carom tables have a large heating pannel the spans underneath the entire slate bed and I have wondered why there hasn't been a pool table with this same idea? I'll bet the 2 brunswicks in Victoria with the heaters are a jem to play on and I'm familiar with the heaters as I have been thinking of the idea of investing the money in table heaters for Club 9 because the tables there are fantastic, but I think that if the tables were heated, they would be even better again Would you guys rather have a heated or non heated pool table? Take care everyone Willie

Heated tables are good in that they keep your hands warm in winter. The two Brunswicks tables in Victoria are very nice; fast and smooth. The pockets are slightly tighter but you feel your game goes up a notch on a decent table. So I go for a super expensive heated table. [ This message was edited by: expertfluke on 2006-03-23 11:15 ]

It would depend on how the table is made in terms of whether or no the pockets get in the way , if is is a table with the 'bucket' type pockets, then it is easy to compensate for that, if it's a ball return sytem table, then it is a matter of having the pockets drop that little bit lower for the return system to allow the balls to return without being stopped be the wood panneling for the heating system , it can be done What do you guys think?

Just played on a table in EC in bradenburg, no heaters under the table but the table was very warm to the touch from the powerful lights above, I have only played on a heated snooker table before and this was definatley warmer than that.JMHO LÖL

While on this discussion I was wondering if anyone had any opinion on whether using a cold cue ball would affect the game of pool much? I ask because a friend keeps leaving his case with his cue ball in the car - and its bloody freezing at the moment.

the cue ball would run slower and not react as good with spin. I have already came up with players for a storage cupboard that is heat, but is specifically for billiard balls, but when I say heated, I reguard this as gentle heating and not a friggin furnace for baking grandma's coockies in lol It's worth while saying to your freind about letting you have the cue ball and then when you're going to the pool room, you can gentlay heat the ball by placing it on a towel on top of a radiator, but make sure that the cueball is completely wrapped up in the towel, this will ensure that the entire cueball will gently heat up I hope this helps buddy Take care everyone Willie
