I am going to Amsterdam in June for 3 days and would like to play some pool whilst I am there. Does anyone know where is good to play pool there. I am sure there are lots of good clubs.

i'm sure this has been asked a few times.

club 8 is probably the best one, van den berg and feijen play from there i think.

I did exactly the same thing recently and Club 8 is definitely the coolest! Etienne Verheem hosts the Amsterdam Open there every year and is a totally cool fellow!

Club8

I also wanted to check out some other clubs and I went through the phone directory getting a list, but I was REALLY surprised to find that many of the clubs didn't actually exist anymore when I got there, so if you're planning on doing that, make sure you phone first.

I also personally wanted to check out the "Nes-Cafe" a tiny one tabled coffee bar because theirs was the first pool web-cam I ever saw and the nerd in me was mightily impressed, but it would probably only appeal to like-minded nuts.

There was one other club that I visited that looked and talked like it had potential - great tables and a pro friendly style but I can't remember what it was called or where it was?

All I can remember was that it was on the ground floor and had windows next to the street?

Can anyone help me?

House of Billiards in Zaandam - about 6 miles North - is also worth a mention. Nice club with both pool & snooker tables, good bar, friendly staff and there's always guys willing to play a match or two. It's about 10 mins from the city by train and there's a train every 10 mins!

Please remenber poolworld does not exist anymore, Sloterdijk has only carom and Oud West has only snooker. The only two with pro-friendly management are de Gracht and Club 8, where the latter is the only club where one can come in with expensive cues and get a moneygame no matter what level your skills (and probably loose!)
Remenber the amsterdam (D) open on the 17th and 18th of march!

Etienne
