When I chalk my 9 Ball American Pool Cue Tips I do not like the 'black' when I first chalk my tips and I REALLY want to get rid of the 'black' when I chalk my tips. I use coarse green sandpaper to scrape/roughen the tip to hold chalk and full coverage of chalk on the tip. But even when I have roughened the tips with the coarse green sandpaper, the tips will eventually go 'black' again when I chalk my tips. Tip Pik tool recommended? Or the coarse green sandpaper? Or both? Advice/hints please.
Thank you for your time

If you are talking about the tip "glazing" or going shiny after a while then yes, a tip pick will help, although there are lots of products out there and lots of people have a variety of preferences.
It sounds like you may have a severe case I think a tip pick is more suitable for a modest amount of texturising - maybe you should consider something capable of a more aggressive action like The Ulti-Mate Cue Tip Tool, or the Cuetec "BowTie" 3 In 1 Tip Tool - these both have texturisers, but also include a shaped sandpaper bowl.
If your tip is glazing regularly you might be hitting the cue-ball too hard too often - try a more gentle stroke whenever you can.
Hope this helps.

Get yourself a cue cube from the Pro 9 shop.... Roughen your tip on one side and shape it with the other. Brilliant wee gadget, and long lasting too.

What I mean by the tip being 'black' the cardman when I chalk the tip is when I first apply the chalk to the tip it goes 'black' when I first put the chalk on the tip then I will have to keep using the chalk to cover the tip with the chalk to get rid of the 'black'. I am using the default tips that came with the American Pool Cues I brought from Rileys Snooker Club, a Cue Craft Statesman American 9 Ball Pool Cue, a Red Stinger American 9 Ball Pool Cue and a Stinger Jump/Break American 9 Ball Pool Cue (not top of the range 9 Ball American Pool Cues nor top of the range 9 Ball American Pool Cue Tips.) I need a job first to get top of the range 9 Ball American Pool Cues and top of the range 9 Ball American Pool Cue Tips. Thank you BigDave, bruno and craig for the products to use for curing my Problem With Chalk On My 9 Ball American Pool Cue Tips. I will maybe buy and consider the products for the future. Wiil the green coarse sandpaper be a alternative option for now until I can get one of the tips products? Hi Richard May I suggest, then that you change the tip on your cue. The tip that generally comes with any cue - snooker or pool - made here in the UK is that they are not really that good. They should be replaced at the first opportunity with a good tip. So, when you go to The Pro Shop, don't just buy yourself some tip tools, but get yourself a couple of good tips. Moori are regarded as among the best, although they are REALLY expensive for a cue tip. However, these tips will last a long, long time. If you get a "medium" hardness tip, you shouldn't go far wrong. As for fitting it, you'll probably find that someone in your local club will be able to do it for you. The one problem with that is that most of these folk are used to fitting tips onto snooker cues and may freak out when they see the Moori. There are a few guys on here that do it, too, and you never know but one or 2 of them may be in your neck of the woods. It's worth a check. Hope all that helps. Yes, it's going to be a little expensive, but it'll be worth it. The difference between what you can do with the cueball just now and what you could do if you change the tip will be like night and day. Good luck. Rileys get there cues with display tips on. Ask your local rileys to change your tip as they will do it for free. They will even provide you with an elkmaster tip for the cue.
