I am entering my first 9 ball tournament in march and I am pretty nervous about it and I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to handle it.

lol.
Just dont expect too much, go there and have fun, as, ultimatly, thats what its all about.
Just play your normal game, try not to play too different from what you normally practice like.

Try to combo the 9 at every opportunity (even if it's full length shot_, annoys the h-e-l-l out of your opponent and makes them very nervious. I know it does when "ExpertFluke" does this to me. PM him for some advice

9ball - what is your experience with pool/snooker. Have you been playing a long time or a relative beginner.
Most of the lads on tour are a good laugh and though they take it serious they will give you advice if asked.
I was in a similar position last year and the best advice I could give is to give it your best and learn from the players you play. Watch for how they position the balls etc. No matter how good you are you can learn more (whats right and whats wrong) from others.
I think even the best players get nervous, some more than others. Try not to worry about who your playing and just play your best. Your always gonna come up against better players, but the best way to get better is by playing the better players more often. Take each shot, rack and match as it comes and try not to think about missed shots too much.
Theres not much else I can advise on. Nerves are only to be expected but once you get into your first match you should forget the nerves and be concentrating on the match.

I am entering my first 9 ball tournament in march and I am pretty nervous about it and I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to handle it. Practice against the best player you can find even if it means losing money to them (think of it as a coaching fee) and don't worry if you spend all your time in your chair because it's good to watch and learn. If you can't find a class player to practice with watch as much 9 ball as you can on DVD or You Tube and, like chirst147 says pay attention to the positional shots played. When you play your match you may be nervous but try and relax as much as possible and don't rush your shots. If nerves get the better of you take deep breaths and slow down. Just try and play your game and rely on your technique to get you through the shots. When it comes to those tough shots think only about the shot and how you will make it. Don't ever think about the outcome i.e. what will happen if you make it or what will happen if you miss it. Only ever think about the shot and your technique. Good luck pal.
