with all the brits suddenly burstin on to winners podiums at what seems like every event. i know setting up a tournament aint easy or cheap but what about alexandra palace as a venue; just been watchin pdc preview programme and pretty sure i heard it mentioned that its available to anyone to use free of charge for events such as pdc darts etc imagine what kind of tournament you cud have if this is the case obviously you,d need sponsors but with world champ & euro number 1 amongst others in our ranks anythings possible, worth lookin into ?

Totally agree jaymo, the west hall where the pdc worlds are being held holds 12,000 spectators so there would be plenty room for the multiple table set up that the world 9 ball champs demands.

Maybe if matchroom looked into the palace as a venue for the 9 ball worlds maybe us brits could finally get to see the first world champs in the uk since 2003, I mean I feel that the monopoly the phillipines has on the tournament is ridiculous and something should be done because one country holding the tournament however popular it is there is not good for the sport.

What do you think?.

The same could be said for the UK when Cardiff had the event for several years on the trot.........i think the worlds should go like the Olympics and move to a different country every time.

Jaymo, you're every bit as good as any other player out there on the circuit, simply because no matter how good a player is, they are still learning the game, even Efren Reyes, Earl Strickland, Johnny Archer, etc, will tell you that they are still learning the game, and we all know they are multi-winning world title holders, and so, instead of comparing yourself you your expectations of watch, learn and play, and always make the most of everything that you learn :)

If there is ever going to be a huge event like that held in the UK, I would rather it be an All Around tournament of 3 different disciplines, this way you could still have 8-Ball and 9-ball, that most people are familiar with, and introduce another discipline like 14-1 to the public (Straight Pool).

Either way a large event in the UK would be great, but unless there are good sponsors and TV coverage, then it's not gonna be easy to set up, but having a venue that is up for grabs free of charge is certainly a huge head start.

There are alot of great players in the UK, besides all the well known players, as there are many good players who aren't competeing at the moment, but probably will do with the GB9BT getting things up and running in the UK :)

In the end of the day, when it comes to playing in a tounament or whatever, you can only try the best that you can do, but when you're both playing and practicing, really go for the shots and learn from each and every shot you play, including kick and jump shots, because there is always a way to see in your own playing, where there is room for improvement and the best way to improve, is to learn to be more deliberate in your shots, byt concentrating on going for a shot and attempting to play it a particular way, e.g. playing a kick shot and making an attempt to try and leave the other player hooked, (Snookered) it's like like the saying goes, "How can you learn if you don't try, and if you don't try, you'll never find out" :)

Another thing to remember is, playing alot of different games like cowboy, equal offence, 1 pocket, bank pool, straight pool, rotation and honolulu, (Nominated Kick shots only) will help any player to sharpen their abilities in all aspects of playing, this is where the UK and a good portion of Europe is still lacking, yes we have got a world champion and a ET #1, but as reguards to the overall all round ability, the UK and much of Europe has still got a it of catching up to do, but we're all definitely on the right track.

I would like to see Matchroom get behind the GB9BT and start arranging promotion and some kind of TV coverage for American Pool in the UK, even if it was only showing the 1/2 finals and final of each of the events, it would definitely be worth while setting up :)

What are your thoughts on this people? :)

Willie

Just another thought on the venue for the tourney, if it were possible to get sponsorship from Diamond Billiards for the tables, then that would be absolutely golden, and I would imagine that there are quite a few players that would love to get a Diamond table once the tournament is over :)

It definitely gives some food for thought, but in saying that, I think that all efforts are being conentrated on the GB9BT, and so, the thought of holding a national or international event in Alexandra Hall, definitely leaves alot of food for thought of possibilities :)

I think that the WPC was like that untill it came to Cardiff when Matchroom had started to promote the event, because it was the 1st? time that the WPC was held in the same country for more, than 1 year consecutively, but I'm not 100% sure on that, perhaps someone could ellaborate :)
