Hey guys,I am thinking of buying a second hand table.I have to choose between an asian brand,a Diamond or a Brunswick.I think I will most likely buy the Diamond or Brunswick. What do you guys think?I have seen Diamond tables at the US open and I think the pockets are much tighter than those on the brunswick. The Diamond table is a few hundred cheaper.

You can have the pockets shimed on a brunswick to what ever size you like. I know Raj Hundal has one with shimed pockets.

Diamond "Pro-AM" are nice tables and I believe they're a little lower down the price bracket, but my choice would be to get a Brunswick GC4 or Centurion, (With the gully return system) and have the pockets 2x shimmed with leather shimms, instead of wood or rubber shimms, as leather shimms will keep the pockets playing true and tighter, whereas rubber and wooden shimms make the pockets a little unpredictable Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2007-12-13 07:45 ]

lol, we have had the topic on shimmed pockets if you wish to read that.
My friend is in the process of having a pool room built and is having a Brunswick metro 3 with tournament pockets (which i believe are tighter than regular ones). This is costing him a fair whack though, although you may be able to get one second hand somewhere

I think I'll go for the Brunswick.Just shimm the pockets and I'll be ready to go. Another thing, will Aramith balls affect my game?I might want to buy a new set.The person who wants to sell it does provide balls but they are not aramiths and have dents.

To heck with that 2nd hand moon rock shite, never accept a 2nd hand rack of spheres unless you KNOW that they are in great condition. If you're gonna get a table and have it 2x shimmed, you may as well invest in a new rack of balls and a Sardo rack as well, after all, if you're having your own pool room, you might as well make the most of it Willie
