I went to a new snooker & pool shop that has just opened up in glasgow this week and was looking at some of the cues a couple of which caught my eye they where jump/break cues with a phenolic tip/ferrule combination for £160 the thing is it wasn't a name cue.
So does anybody have any ideas on how I can tell if the cues are decent i.e they arent just a two bit peice of fire wood and if the hit is good.
Any help is appreciated.

I would just stick to the popular names ie Predator, J&J, Mezz, X-Breaker etc.
At least have been tried & tested by the top professionals in our game.

if the cues dont have any markings on them stay clear unless you know what makes a good cue

About 2 years ago i ordered a launcher jump and break model 1 from www.loontjens.com
It was a bit awkward because the site wasn't available in English but they did respond to my e mail in English.
I arranged to pay for the cue on delivery,it was around £70, i chose it because i was told it was very easy to use.
In my opinion it is the best value for money jump & break cue i have come across, i have tried a few others in the same price range and there is a big difference.

Just checked there site and they still have the cue priced 82.50 Euros. Obviously there is a delivery charge also.
Hope this helps.

ask if you can try the cue out, sometimes shops will let you have a few hits with it to see if you like the feel. If they will let you do that then i'd suggest that
