Hi folks.

This has been my first week working in Africa.
I'm on an oil rig just offshore Equatorial Guinea.

And guess what?
They have a Brunswick 9 ball table in the recreation room!
We also have a lot of Filipinos on board, and you can imagine how fanatical they are about the game!

But I'm pleased to say I am already number one player on the rig!

Send us some photos of the table and your "shipmates"? I'll add them to this thread! I'd love to see the table.

When a man has to get a job on an Oil Rig of the coast of Africa just to get some pool practice, questions need to be asked! He, he!

Hope you are ok pal, keep safe and see you in a few months.

Yeah Diamond - It sounds like something off a Bond movie. Man locked away on a secert training centre on some far off exotic location. Don't upset too many people or you might end swimming with the fishes!! ;-)

...Nice to see they've got top quality Brunswick Centennial balls on the table - if you keep sending photos will we be seeing a Scotsman slowly turning from blue to brown?

Thanks for the photos!

Yes Dave, its an 8ft Brunswick with a centennial play pack.
Also a snazzy Brunswick cue rack as well.

The surface is a little bumpy, but I believe that is in order to be reclothed soon.

The guys out here are really funny and we have a good laugh in the evenings.

Brian

Have any of the Filipinos have got the same sort of cue action that the big-guns have? Just curious if it is something that they pick up themselves or if it is taught.

Hope you're keeping well - and out of mischief!

Best wishes

Pete, they do have some weird cue actions, but they can pot balls from ridiculous angles.

But they dont seem to make it all the way through a rack.

Of course I'm keeping out of mischeif....dont want to be thrown to the sharks....

Jim, I know it doent look right without my glove, but I've got to give them a chance....

:-P

the reason why we co have this trash cue action that you are saying is that we do not play snooker back home that you need to be steady and have a proper stance and it's not being taught to us we just get the habit.also bruno i know that you are playing filipinos there it doesn't mean that all of the filipino are good in pool we just enjoy playing it.back home i have been trashed by most of the youngster there 20-0 and a laughing stock i (i think)in a very small town but here if i play a local tournamnet(rileys watford & st.albans) i can manage to reach a semi final or final table(im considered class E in the phillippines,or maybe no class at all).so not all filipino are good in pool!!!

i do agree that we do have a weird /trash cue action but that's the way we play.strange!!! but it works . you can ask dazz who is having a grand time playing against some unknown filipino players.
