Just had a look at the website, it looks like great progress is being made. Well done to everyone involved!
It's mentioned on the GB9BT website that the pro division might be over-subscribed. Depending on the extent of this it might be worth running a qualifiers tournament with the losers going into the challenge tour.
Whichever way this is sorted out you are going to get some pro class players on the challenge tour and some challenge tour class players on the pro tour or none. After the first season things should have sorted themselves out.
So if, for example, Daryl was unlucky enough to not qualify for the pro tour (using this method) and I somehow fluked my way into a tour (based on the fact that I'm pish). Then the chances of Darly qualify to the pro tour and me getting kicked off will be pretty high!

Daryl will not be playing in the Challenge Division in season 1 and nor will a few other players of similar ability, full stop Running qualifiers to solve over subscription in season 1 is an option but it does bring additional expense for players and admin overhead for the tour. We'll wait to see the final numbers are before deciding how to approach this though we do have a pretty good idea how we are going to go about selecting people. As you say, it's great for the tour that we'll have such quality in both sections. The Challenge Division is going to be fascinating IMO. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-10-23 14:07 ]

Hi Lee, Presuming an oversubscription for the pro division it might be an early PR coup for the new tour to explicitly set out how exactly this will happen e.g. who will contribute to this decision making; how, in terms of clear and justifiable criteria, it will take place (on what basis are players chosen or not); how ultimately this will be arbitrated (such as majority committee decision, or someone having executive powers in the case of a split decision); whether the decision makng process will be minuted and communicated to individual players etc. etc. This would certainly put the new tour one step ahead of previous incarnations and set things off on the right foot. Keep up the good work.

Needless to say that's exactly how things will work with GB9BT. We do have a Tour Committee and that Committee will be making the decision based on criteria they agree to. We will also have to accept that the Committee may have to use their judgment rather than plain facts in reaching this decision for some players. One thing is for sure, we will do everything possible to make the selection process as fair as possible and we will involve our players in this process as much as we can. Just want to clarify that there are certain players who I'd expect to be on the pro tour based on their ability / achievements (like Daryl). It would be a bit of a joke if he was in the challenge tour.
I was just trying to think of someone who would definately be good enough for the pro tour as an example.
I agree with nameless, everyone involved should be informed about how / when decisions will be made.
