I was speaking to Ben & his dad last night in Barnsley and, to cut a long story short, we talked about a money match between Ben & Phil at 9 Ball for £1000. They were very much up for it and I've spoken to Phil to is happy to accept the challenge. No other details were discussed but Ben invited me to post the information on here so that's what I'm doing. Hopefully we can sort this one out and get another exciting match on. The Friday night (1 Dec) before the Barnsley Tournament might be a good time as the match table will have been recovered for the special event on the Saturday. Interesting match up - how's this come about? Personally, I think Phil is too strong, I have only seen Ben play a handful of times so maybe I'm doing him a disservice, he's not been playing long though has he?

bens a good player but eratic most of the time and his temprement is terrible,am good friends with him ans have told him all this, needs to cut this out of his game to move forward.seen phil play a few frames at barnsley once so cant comment on him, been told his a very good player though,so just on that assumption i would tell ben to stay away until his sorted himself out.if it goes ahead though will be entertaining to watch.

I always root for the underdog - uless its England. Specially for having the balls. The kid aint stupid - he knows who Phil is and what hes capable of but hes not afraid to play him for £1000 so fair play for that.
Just read your post above Phil, bit ballsy that mate - no matter who the opponent is they deserve respect - especially at 9 ball!
Good luck to both players......

Good luck to both players...... nice comment shotgun i like the way you think!! I give him at most respect as a player!! and as a person he is a nice lad but when manchester united play in the nothing cup final they hate the team they are playing!! Until the end of the match!! He is a very good player and when I play him I will treat him as a very good player but a bit of sportsmenship doesnt hurt Im looking forward to my first proper money game should be a great match!! ----------------- UK's Youngest [ This message was edited by: the_locomotive on 2007-10-13 20:47 ]

I played Phil in the American 8 ball comp at Barnsley a few months back & i thought he had one of the best breaks i've ever seen & also his potting was exceptional. I know that Ben is also a good potter & has improved a lot in english 8 ball since i first saw him. However, both player's temperament will be the key & that might be the thing that lets one of them down. Good Luck to both of them but being a fellow Yorkshire lad, i hope Ben wins. ----------------- Regards

Yep, Ben is one very good young player and confident too. Whether his temperament and experience are enough to get him through this one is a doubt for me though. He certainly talks the talk and appears to be willing to put his money where his mouth is so now we just need to see if he can walk the walk Both nice lads and both great players so I hope the game does come off in which case it will be a good spectacle for everyone. My prediction is a win for Phil.
