3 GBR players in Spain for this, and another 30 GBR players in the Netherlands for the Euro Tour. It's a busy weekend for the UK's pool players!
Thanks for the info... Do you have a link to a results page please Malaguista?

Apparently there may not be one, but Maaguista has said he will try to keep us up to date with the Brits results... He normally does a pretty good job, even gets us some photos sometimes. He normally logs-in early in the mornings.

Just to prove you wrong Dave I am logging in now!!! The first day, we were playing groups in round robin format.
Brett Armer had a nightmare and lost all of his matches, WO, 0-6, 5-6, 4-6, and 3-6. Paul had much better fortune and had good results winning 4 out of five matches, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 (this was against me!) 6-2, 0-6- I left the club before Sean had finished but he was playing well, WO, 6-5, WO, 6-4, 6-0. When I left he had two matches to play but he is already qualified for the next phase as is Paul. Tomorrow there is more group play so the BRits won't be in action until Sunday morning.

Typical! Nice job though Peter, thanks, and well done getting a couple off Mr Williams too! Tell the lads good luck from all of us at Pro9, and tell them to get on here too!

Well it finished last night following some good play all day. I lost in the first round (as expected) to Carlos Cabello, the eventual winner. The last 32 included 16 seeds, some of whom had returned early in the morning from Weert. 1st match was between Alcaide and Raul Hebles and it seemed as though David had left his will to win in Holland. Hebles had no trouble in winning 9-4. Paul Williams was playing a blinder and took his first match 9-1 beating one of the seeds, German Arias of Cadiz. The 2nd round saw him up against Hebles, current Spanish 9 Ball champion and winner of the big open tournament in Lugo last July. The Spanish wouldn't have fancied Paul to win this but he proved them all wrong and saw off Hebles with a scoreline of 9-5. He then came up against a weaker opponent in Antonio Gomez of Málaga who really had no defence against an inspired Williams and this one went to the Brit 9-3. Now into the semi-final, Paul faced up to another Spanish superstar, Francisco Diaz, better known as "Paquito", this proved too much and the Spaniard advanced to the final by beating Williams by 10 racks to 6. The other Brit in the last 32 was young Sean Dracup from Bristol, this lad is nineteen years old and has acquired a lot of skill in the couple of years that he has been playing this sport. Sean had won his group convincingly winning 5 matches out of 5 and got into the last 32 where he faced another of the seeded players, Diego Pedro Simon. Unfortunately things didn't go too well for the youngster (I can call him that at 70 years old myself) and Diego ran out the winner with a comfortable 9-4 scoreline. Cabello who had squeezed past Dani Gaspar 10-9 face up to Paquito in the final and another tight match ensued but in the end it was local lad Carlos cabello who prevailed winning by 2 racks, 10-8. This tournament had 7000 euros added to the entry fees and the winner took home 3000 euros, the second received 2000 euros and Paul Williams, for his part ended up by boosting his bank account by 1000 euros. The next major tournament in Spain will be the Eurotour and the CEP Anniversary 8 Ball tourney which both take place in Benalmádena in early December. A couple of photos from the event: Winner Carlos Cabello Paul Williams Sean Dracup [ This message was edited by: malaguista on 2007-09-17 13:43 ]
