So, the format for this year's World Championships has been announced (it's about a third of the way down the front page). What are everyone's thoughts on it? Personally, I think it's great. Longer races from the start. Winner break's back (WOO HOO!). And now Double Elimination instead of Round Robin meaning that players can't afford a slow start. Roll on November! Now, what about the rest of you? What do you think? What about the people that are going to be playing this format? You're going to be playing under this format, so what do you think? Best wishes thecardman

I think it's brilliant as every game is meaningful. Where as in the past, there has been some suspect results. Dodgy betting. People taking it easy. Now it's pressure from the start. No messing about or funny business. Instead there will be a few entertaining twitches to be watch! The only draw back for players is travelling 8000 miles and the risk of only playing 2 matches but then that's what the BPPPA felt like sometimes [ This message was edited by: expertfluke on 2007-07-26 12:41 ]

Yeah - expert fluke - no what your sayin mate. along way to go to lose 2 matches and get on the plane.... But at the same time, what an incentive to practice hard before you go. All the players have plenty of notice so theres no excuses.
My only fear really is that i lose the lag and then come to the table 6 or 7-0 down with my first shot..... ??
better practice the lag for a few months then..... lol
Im dead excited - but am praying for an "ok" draw. Not effren first match and then the loser of Buste and Wu etc.... think ive just jinxed it...
come on Dazzler & Appleton - wat you boys sayin??

It's about bloomin time that they had a decent format instead of that round robin pi$h. I think that it's about time that there was a format, that every player had to play for each rack, instead of trash, where players don't try because they have already qualified, as that only gives pool players a bad rep, and it's hard enough trying for pool players to get good and respectful recognition as it is. The one thing that I would love to see is Ozzy, Dazzler, Daz, Pat, Imran, Raj, Kevin, and a few other getting to the very last stages, to have an ALL British final, I know it sounds it's highly unlikely to happen, but not impossible, as this new format has made the tournament be wide open to anyone, but in order to win, you've not only gotta produce the goods, but you gotta keep producing the goods, and I'm very much at the view that there are alot of British players that are capable of this Willie
