Hi everyone,
I joined the BPPPA this season and wasn't aware with any problems in the running, or changes in the pipeline.
It was my understanding that the £165 was to track my progress throughout the season by including me on the rankings list and allow me cheaper entry into the tournaments.
I've now found out that the BPPPA will end after this season and a new tour will be created, the GB9BT (which sounds great by the way).
The problem I've got is that I've effectively blown £165 now, which I'm not too happy about. I'll still get rankings but what does it matter where I finish now as it ends this season. Also, the entry fee to tournaments for non members is greatly reduced (only a fiver more).
If I'd have known about the changes before parting with my money, I wouldn't have joined - it's only an extra fiver per event and ranking points don't matter now anyway.
I've emailed Riggers, who's helped try to clear things up, but I am wondering what the feelings are of other members and also the guys in charge of the BPPPA.
I believe some kind of refund should be offered at the very least, what does everyone else think?

Surely the BPPPA rankings will become the new GB9BT rankings so therefore you will not have lost out?

It's a completely new tour with a new system, so I can;t imagine that the points will be carried across.
Initially, it seems like a fair way to do things but because of the money lost (especially for new members) and the way the rankings will work, it isn't.
The top established players will have lost the points for their efforts, Daryl and Mark will start with the same ranking points as, ahem, me.
Also, the guys who've been turning up to events to support the tour will start on the same points as the guys who abandoned it (if they're going to join the GB9BT, which I imagine they would).
If I've got any of this wrong, please correct me!

Worrying, so what's to stop the new tour folding next year too? I personally wouldn't part with money up front for any of these. If they put together the right product, people will come, people will pay per event and be glad to do so.
I think it's time to get away from this "players tour", "where your voice will be heard" nonsense, cos everyone's got different views and many have vested interests. Someone needs to take control, says this is how it's gonna be and if they get it right, you'll get 100+ per event. You'll still get people moaning, but the proof will be in the turn out. For a start though, people need to get real about the amount of money this sport will generate. There's just not enough interest.

BPPPA non members pay £65 to enter, members pay £45.
thats £20 different from where im standing - Where are you getting your information from JonnyJP?
My Question would be what happens to all your membership fees now, from last year?
I was a non member and had to pay £65 each event - thats the price i paid for not being a member? As much as i didnt like it - The members have to have it cheaper for sure so no probs with that.
looking forward to the new tour - will just want some clear guidelines about a membership fee and what we get for it.. at the moment it clearly does not justify a £165 pricetag - HOWEVER! - as i have said in previous threads, i am prepared to let Riggers and other parties come up with a possible solution, hear them out, and then make my own impartial decision.
Im sure the people at the BPPPA and the GB9BT have already thought about all the above and will make the relevant announcements shortly or when they are ready.
Lets not start another "b.it.chfest" of a thread...
appreciate your concerns - prob all members are in the same boat on this one tho. Lets wait for some official announcements bud.
not asking for argument here - just trying to be realistic. i love the game and dont like seeing it go to pot on threads like this....
Good luck to the BPPPA and the GB9BT resolving this as quickly and professionally as possible.

As mentioned previously there will be announcements about the new tour at the BPPPA event in Barnsley.
JohnnyJP, when you refer to £5 more that's only for a one-off 8 ball event (though it does offer half ranking points), not the main 9 ball tour. The non-member fee for the remaining main 9 ball tour events has been reduced to £10 because we feel it's right to do this at this time to attract people back while we enter the 'brave new world' (so to speak!) of the new tour next season. There has been a lot of talk about value associated with the BPPPA membership and the situation with rankings. We really cannot go on debating this forever and it's time to forget it and look forward to an exciting fresh start next season.

Ok, I thought an extra £5 would set the precedent for the rest of the tour stops. Didn't realise this was going back up to 10. Cheers Riggers for clearing that up.
Shotgun, I wasn't having a pop at the BPPPA or anything I just wondered what was going on thats all since I'm new to organisation and didn't think the sudden change was fair.
When I joined I expected that I'll be playing in the remaining 5 tournaments, saving £20 a time would unltimately save me £100 - plus I'll get ranking points and a discount for next season so I thought my £165, even though joining halfway through the season, was great value.
At the moment, it's not looking that good - no discount, no ranking points and only a saving of £70 on all events I'll be attending. So thats £165 for £70!?
If anyone thinks I'm being unreasonable they should look at the member benefits on the BPPPA website - "Entry into our main tour stops for members is £45 per event, whereas non-members must purchase a one-tournament license at an additional cost of £20, totalling £65 per tournament. Discounts apply to all other BPPPA tournaments." I'm looking forward to the new tour and the rest of this one.

I can see why you're disappointed JonnyJP. Paying that £165 was really bad timing for you. Still we have a great new tour for you to look forward to to soften the blow

What will the rankings stand for, with bpppa it didn't stand for al lot did it.What are the perks if you end number up 1 on the ranking.Free world champ/free european champs what will it be. If you don't have anything to offer the top 5 for example what's the point in playing in a ranking event. Can you explain this to me so i know what i'm in for.

O yea by the way i'd love to play on the ranking but at the same time i would like to be playing for something as well.I think a lot more players would be interested as well as long it's good value for money probarly not to expensive and that you work/play towards something.

Probarly Riggers but you might want to explain to me what the advantages are to play in ranking events apart from paying a membershipfee.
