i converted from snooker to 9-ball about 6 months ago and i cannot play with those thick pool cues i prefer using a snooker cue. as im sure many of you have found, my cue warps big-time after a few months and im fed up with replacing it so im looking for a snooker/9-ball combo cue something like the one james kay and caroline welch use. i am willing to spend upto £100 either new or second hand so any ideas or offers would be greatfully recieved. thanks tom emes.

I saw Caroline playing quite recently and she was experimenting with a Predator Z² Shaft - maybe she'll let you know how she got on with it?

I’ve played with a Predator Z shaft with a Lucassi butt for about 2 years and have been quiet happy with it when ive’ got the right tip on it. I had a few shots with Tony Davids Z2 shaft recently and thought it was brilliant and if I could afford it I personally would go down that road. I doubt Tom if you would be able to get either of those shafts for a £100 or less let alone with a butt as well.. But I could be wrong (I normally am). I've just had a custom cue made by B&W Billiards went for 11.75mm tip and I've found for me it plays miles better than a traditional american pool cue.
Cost a far amount over £100 pound mark though. I'm guessing with out any splices you could probably get a maple cue blank around the same size as mine for around £100. However cuemakers tend not to use the better wood unless you spend money on the Splices.

I was a snooker player and originally used my snooker cue for 9 ball. I then changed to e Predator 314 shaft, which I used for about 4 years and never liked it (it always felt like I was playing with a smarties tube lol). Then a few months ago I bought a Z2 shaft from the pro shop here and am delighted with it. It feels much more like a snooker cue to play with and I would recommend you get a butt you like and get a Z2 for it. its worth saving up for!
