Just a congrats to paddy on his us open qualification in glasgow on sunday, i am still in disbelief that how that 6 spat out, but thats 9 ball i suppose. Even though the day was pretty heavy going i still thought the final was a cracking game and made the waiting around all worthwhile. All the best, Adam...(p.s. i thought your kick on the 9 was a thing of beauty..)

I'm all for one day events, but if you bare in mind me n the lads didnt got back to sunderland till 6.15am on monday morning it was the full 24 hr shift. I thought you played some great stuff yourself especially your jump safetys they were impressive if not frustrating for me.. By the way my metro is getting installed in early sept so if you ever fancy joining me n the lads for some serious practice just let us know mate... Well played again, need a rematch soon though to excorise the demon.. (07725 163 883) Cheers, Adam..

Of course, there will be MANY players there from around the world. This is, IMHO, the most prestigous event in the States, and EVERY POOL PLAYER desires that championship title. Here's a few of my picture page links of the U.S. Open. Of course, my significant other is prominently featured in most of the pics, but there are some other great players as well for you to see: http://www.hometown.aol.com/etranscript/2005USOpen.htmlhttp://www.hometown.aol.com/khmccready/2004usopen.html I'd love to see my buddy, Brian Saleh, make the trip, too! I'd be happy to do it - maybe late July/early August (when I'm off work.) I think a central UK qualifier would likely have to be run over a weekend due to an anticipated high entry.
I would suggest the same format that I ran in Glasgow - DE, races to 6/5 (or longer - dependant on time/tables), Texas Express rules, racking for opponent. And... ZERO Tolerance for arguments/bickering between players!
This worked well for me in Glasgow and all players will agree that the tournament ran smoothly and fairly. Except for the 3am finish! Can't have it all though, eh Paddy (& Adam)? ;o)
The only difference I can see between the SAPPA event & one to be run in England would be that I would be unable to award ranking points.
I'm thinking that a venue somewhere between Leeds & Birmingham ought to attract the best entry.
Thoughts guys?
