Some twonk knocked my cue over and there is now a very annoying nick in one of my pred shafts. Can anyone recommend a tried and tested (and foolproof hoepfully) process for removing this?

Cheers.

is there wood missing? or is it just pressed in? ie any rough edges?

If just pressed in then its a very easy fix

Get a peice of bog roll no bigger than the nick. Wet the paper but it should only be damp not dripping. Leave the damp tissue on top of the nick overnight and when you wake up it will have gone.

Trust me i've done this loads of times.

i can also suggest another way to do this.........i've not checked if Dave sells these yet so if he does i dont want to stop him selling what is a really great tool.......i have a couple just in case.

I used it to remove a dent in one of TheDiamond's shafts last night. (He had a nick with wood missing too......that was fixed another way......but not sanded out making the shaft thinner)

I don't know where it came from but its just a piece of rolled glass that heats up the wood..

I'm not doubting this would work but the idea of leaving water to absorb like that overnight is not for me.........and i would recommend not for an expensive (custom maker) shaft either.

Just try the bog roll it works perfectly. I'd rather put a little damp blob on a shaft rather than heating it up.

Hi, I've just ordered one myself because I lost the previous one, they do work. You can order them from American Cowboy Billiards from Ebay in the States and he has got 2 on there, one is a Dr Dent buffer and the other one is their own make. One is $10.95 and the other is about $5.95 and he doesn't charge much for shipping. "This tool is simple, convenient, and effective for removing those dents, without damaging the wood with steam or alcohol. It is made of hardened borosilicate glass to assure the utmost in quality and consistency.

Simply rub the glass rod over the dent in the shaft lightly and vigorously until the clicking sound of the dent fades away, as the dent is smoothed. This product can also be used to shine your worn Irish linen wraps, or smooth out frays and scratches."

Hope this helps.
Damian

To be honest, we've been using normal drinking glass tumblers to do this for years now, there's nothing special about the glass rod, but I'm sure we'll have some in the shop before long!

:D
