Are there any BPPPA events in July 2007?
The UK championship is listed on the BPPPA website but I've heard this has been cancelled.
Could someone just confirm this and also when the next tournament is and where is it.

The next scheduled BPPPA event is Barnsley on 28/29 July. I know the last event had a disappointing turnout but I can tell you there is a lot going on behind the scenes at the BPPPA at the moment with a lot more input from players council. Me and other members of the players council are very active in seeking players views and ensuring those views are turned into action. I can tell you things are really looking up and you can expect some exciting changes ahead. Expect some annoucements from the BPPPA soon. That's all I'm going to say on the matter here because it's clear to me that talking to the players in person and meeting with the BPPPA to effect change is far more effective than engaging in slanging matches on here. The fact is the players DO have a voice, the BPPPA ARE listening and there WILL be change. This is no empty promise I can assure you. Now let's look forward, get back to playing pool and I really hope you all come out in force to Barnsley next month to make it a great event. Riggers,
Does this mean the Barnsley event will now be the same entry fee as the other bpppa events instead of the lesser cost it was first advertised at?

Yes, it was first advertised as an independent open event but will now be a BPPPA tour event.

Is this event still on? I heard there was severe flooding around Sheffield, Barnsley etc?
Don't really want to come down from Glasgow to play aqua-pool in a little dinghy

Yes the event is still on. Barnsley town centre has been completely unaffected by flooding, it's the surrounding areas east and south near Rotherham and Doncaster that have been worst affected.

Ah right, cheers.
Getting there might be a problem then. I'll still try and get down there.
Do you know when the flyer is getting sent round?

Why will getting there be a problem? Barnsley town centre is just off the M1. Unless you are going to divert round some obscure small village miles away from the town centre you are not going to have any transport problems due to the flooding.
Ted is doing the flyer today.

Give Rigger's & co a chance pal (whoever you are?), Rome wasn't built in a day. I think big changes are a-foot, a little patience I'm sure we'll bring rewards.

Thanks Si. I really do understand that it's not acceptable to have all the events up north and can assure you (as you will know if you ready this forum) that me and a team of others are working to address this by way of an exciting new tour for next season that will cover the whole country. It's early days yet so the only promise I can make is that me and others with the backing of the BPPPA are very committed to the project and are determined to see it through. In the meantime I really hope people come up to Barnsley to support this event. Good reasons to.... 1. For those in the south east it's considerably nearer than Manchester and conveniently located just of the M1 motorway north of Sheffield. 2. It's a great new club with recently recovered tapped tables and not a purple cloth in sight! The staff are great too - just read the comments following the Barnsley open. 3. It's a show of support for 9 ball in this country and in particular in the team of people who are trying to bring you a new tour next season. 4. We hope to make some significant announcements about our proposals and next steps. If we do get another turn out like we had in Manchester last month I will start to wonder why we're bothering! So please put the past behind us and come out to support this event and the future of 9 ball pool in the UK. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-07-04 16:19 ]

I would very much like to be able to attend in Barnsley, but because of lack of finances, I'm unable to make it to Barnsley, but I would like to be able to play in the following event, whether it be in Manchester, Barnsley, wherever I know that you and a few are working hard with the BPPPA to try and get a tour, that everyone is happy with, and Lord knows it's easier said, than done You guys have my backing, in what you're trying to achieve, and you have definitely got my support Willie

Getting there is going to be tricky for me because I'm coming from Glasgow on the Friday to stop at my mates at Durham. Then getting the train from there, which goes through Donnie which is flooded.

Check it out with National Rail JonnyJP as I don't think it will be a problem. If it is you can always go via Leeds or York and change or maybe even someone can pick you up from Leeds. Check national rail first 'cos I'm not convinced there are problems with trains from Donny.

Cheers, I've already checked and its ok. But it was ok last month and I ended up getting stuck somewhere for an hour and a half due to flooding.

Is this gonna be 9-ball or 8-ball? Sorry if this has already been answered but I've been away so haven't caught up with all the chat...
