I am new to this, just wondering what a double elim is and how it works?????

It means if you lose 1 match you are not out of the competition but lose again and it's hometime i'm afraid.

When you lose your first match you join the one loss side of the draw. The more matches you won before losing the further into the one loss side you join. In the Barnsley open it's double elim to the last 8 so this will be made up of the last 4 on the one loss side and last 4 on the winners side. These will then be drawn to play single knockout. edit - Actually the last 8 are decided by position on the double elim draw sheet and are not redrawn.
