Ok guys, submit the things you would want in a new tour or organisation, this is not something against the BPPPA lets make that clear, in fact lets hope they take ideas from this and put it in motion themselves that is all the guys and girls want,
My idea would be to have a British Tour, one stop in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, the 16 top ranked players going through to Sunday whilst the saturday field played down to 16, also from 6pm on the Saturday there would be an 6 man team of Internationals with the captain selecting his players for each discipline, 6pm would be 10-ball (race to 7) 7pm would be 8-ball (race to 5) and 8pm would be 9-ball (race to 8 The top 16 from these 4 events would then play in a UK finals day on a sunday venue to be selected whilst saturday would see the top two from the team internationals play a Home Internation Final and that winning team take on a challenge from a Dragon promotions event against maybe USA, also a player from each county in England to put themselves forward for getting together a team from there county or to represent their county now this is a big way forward and works for the reds and yellows game, Remember these are ideas not a plan but someone like myself would run this if I knew the player support was their but maybe this thread may help your ideas please and what you would like to see.

I like the idea of the county structure mark, it certainly seems to work for the reds and yellows game.

A county set up would run something like this, regionilised, example a North England group would be something like this, 4 in a group Cheshire, Lancahire, Merseyside, Yorkshire, winners from that group would go to a county finals day at a venue to be selected.

The EPT concept of a two tiered structure.
Top 32 and the rest (with cash prizes in both, albeit smaller in the 2nd tier)
A concept like this could hold player's interested at all skill levels.

I think the two tiered event is vital, it gives lesser players the chance to compete for cash prizes whereas the current tours mean lesser players such as myself are basically giving money away when playing in an event

Yes the two tiered idea is a must, in my opinion.

Ok two tiered paln is noted, which is something me and Daryl would have gone ahead with if we were carrying on.

Single day events.

Entry capped at £20. (better to have 120 runners paying £20 than 50 or 60 paying £40 from a popularity point of view.)

That sort of entry I guess would be for 2nd Tier players, bigger players would want larger entry fees for more money but 2nd tier yes that can be done.

how about an open and approachable set of tour staff who are open, honest and frequent in their communication back to the players?

and some sort of structure where your best results in 5 out of the 7 tour stops are taken into account, in case a stop clashes with something else (like the missus's birthday!)

That is a must hence the reason for this thread, again like the EPT it would be a players tour and all staff voted for yearly.

Just to tweak something that Mark mentioned in his inital post, instead of 10 Ball, why not Straight Pool? My reasoning for this is very simple - we already have a Rotation discipline (9-Ball) in that set up, why have 2? Why not have disciplines that test all facets of your game instead of just concentrating on the Rotation disciplines? Also, playing Straight Pool would allow anyone lucky enough to play in the European Championships to have some tournament practice in it before heading over.

What I would love to see on a tour would be all the major disciplines being played, but then I've always preferred the likes of Straight Pool and One Pocket to 8 Ball and 9 Ball.

Now, since this is being used as a "brianstorming session" and that there are no such things as bad ideas in a "brainstorming session" - I'd love to see a team structure similar to those that are used on the continent - 3-person teams playing 8-Ball, 9-Ball and Straight Pool. It's the sort of thing that Imran's playing on in Holland. This could be done on a club level, area level and even national level but would probably take a serious amount of organising and running. Shir, have you been involved in this sort of thing and how much work did it take?

Just a few thoughts.

Best wishes

The 3 man etc in Holland has good sponsorship, we would need a good sponsor and as we all know in this country the sponsor is a problem, now with the county scene all around the country that would help to raise sponsors I feel.

Ladies in skimpy tops racking your balls tightly and whispering the 'score' in your ear after each game. Err sorry - wrong forum!

More events in the north east & scotland, lower entry fees. Some form of tv exposure

On the subject of tv exposure, this is really the only way in my eyes that the game will ever really progress, add an element of showbiz and razamatazz to capture the publics imagination, just look at how darts has benefited from this and you can draw many parralels between the two sports. If you capture the audience the sponsors will follow very quickly.
However if tv time were to become a reality the format of the broadcast would have to be thought about very carefully as sometimes the game does not lend itself well to tv, in my view a highlights show of tournaments rather than extended highlights of one match would lend itself better to viewers.
