I had heard that there was a German player interested in playing Arfan, forget his name. Any news on this Andy?

To keep this thing fresh it needs some of the southern players to start travelling as well. I understand the cost implications with travel and accoms but surely there is someone down south confident enough about their game to give it a shot?

hi guys,im new user ,just bin reading comments about mmtv ,ive been vegas last couple of times ,great venue, and lovely people,i noted people were unhappy with players support, dont want make an issue out of anything ,but found it quite unfair that young mat lawrenson on both ocasions brought 17 and 19 people respectively, and it wasnt mentioned, obviously not everybody can make it at certain times, and its difficult to rally a lot of support,on a regular basis ,but i gaurantee that if young mat gets on again he will bring 25 this time, possibly more ,just thought it was worth mentioning, dont want his supporters to think it aint worth comeing, big yourselves up,pete does a great job as does andy and the players entertain regardless of standard, keep up the good work you guys ,its a brilliant event and well worth the travel no matter whos playing [ This message was edited by: origbobble on 2011-07-04 23:01 ]

Yeah totally agree Pete, can understand why the southerners dont travel?!? The cost implications are irrelevant when youve got a chance to win £1000+. A lot of southerners will pay a lot more than that to travel to gb9 to win absolutely nothing! Id personally travel anywhere if i thought the match was right.

Unless I am mistaken there have only been two from 'down South' who have played (those being myself and Jason Howard) - the main reason others are not playing is due to the 5 supporters rule.
I can understand that the club needs an atmosphere but unless there are concessions allowed for those that live a certain distance away then it will always be the same players at each event which I can't imagine is drawing in many viewers on CuesportTV.

I think the 5 supporter rule has been totally necessary and so far Andy and Pete haven't really put a foot wrong.
The reason for it (as everyone knows) is two-fold...atmosphere but also foot-fall. Is there another way to achieve both of those?
Aside from somebody willing to risk a comprehensive book on winners, scorelines etc...I can't see how the crowd/viewers can get involved to the extent that your own support musters.
I agree that if the game is right, players will travel. One idea could be to have the wildcard card matches 'area based' to encourage support to travel. It could be a logistical nightmare but if one event had a 'versus' theme such as London versus North West for three wildcard matches, maybe more support would travel and tune in?

Yes, not a bad idea that one Ben. Anything to a. encourage an atmosphere and b. give us a more even spread of players from the UK. ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √

Had valentine come down and fair play to Jason and Chris for coming to Wakefield. A great event Andy puts on and good coverage from pete and who doesn't want to win a minimum of 500 for 2 hours work?!

Matt and arfan worthy champions so should take a challenger to knock them off rather than beat each other. Where are the challengers for them btw??

All your views and points noted and some very good ones too, Pete and myself will discuss this further at the next event to see if we can come up with a plan to get the guys from the south involved it would be a great step forward for MMTV and uk pool.
