Shame for Tony, but a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to local favourite, Jonni Fulcher from Switzerland, winning the EuroTour's Swiss Open. (He's currently ranked 78th on the BPPPA tour).

Jonni was 46th on the EPBF rankings but has now shot up a massive 35 places to 11th if my calculations are correct. Tony goes from 38 to 7. Well done to both players. [ This message was edited by: malaguista on 2006-10-08 18:04 ]

I've added some fantastic words and pictures to the Swiss EuroTour article by our latest recruit, roving reporter/photographer, Mark Mills, who has submitted some truly awesome photographs. Mark mentioned an interesting fact about the winner. Apparently the EPBF had asigned a Swiss flag to Jonni's scoreboard automatically, but when they asked him for the final, he requested that it indicate GBR! Good lad!!!

Thought I'd get involved... Thanks to EPBF for another fantastic tournament! Dave, Gre and the lads have done yet another incredible job. It's a sheer pleasure to play in the events and to win one is a dream come true. I have just a couple of things to say: Firstly I'd like to say what a fantastic guy Tony Drago is, he was such a gentleman during and after the match, a real ambassador and credit to the sport. It's one of the few times when I've played and won a match and I've actually felt my opponent was genuinely happy for me (That is much more than I can say for certain other players who I defeated during the tournament). I'm sorry there can be only one winner, but I'm sure Tony's turn for a Eurotour win will come, it's just a matter of time. Secondly I'd like to put the record straight regarding the whole Swiss vs British thing. As you may or may not know, I am of course a Brit and proud to be so. However, I've been living in Switzerland for 3 years now, where I play both the snooker and pool tours. The Swiss Federation have been extremely good to me and I'm extremely grateful to them as such I generally try to represent Switzerland when I can, but in this case since I do not have a Swiss passport, the rules clearly state that I am obliged to represent the UK. Please don't think that I'm turning my back on my home country, not at all, I just feel that since my pool has matured in this country it is only right to aford it the credit it deserves. Personally I'd love to represent both countries, but of course, this is not possible. Although, if were to move back to the UK at some point in the future, things may change. I didn't get the chance during my interview, so I'd like to dedicate this win to my girlfriend and family who have supported me in everything I do. Thanks for all your kind words and I look forward to seeing you all in Solihull.

Thanks man! not sure who you are, but thanks anyway! I forgot to also give especial thanks to my best pool playing mates Paul Kellett, Spike Milligan and Stanley Ling (Where are you Stan!). It's really thanks to them and mainly Paul that I play billiards at all. It was a well mispent youth in the Imperial College Snooker Club, instead of studying! Thanks to Imperial College and the UK government for funding my practice in London for 7 years!
