I'm getting a few PM's about GB9BT but could I please ask people to email instead if it's about official tour business. For example if you want to change division I'd prefer to have that in writing by email. Thanks.

My 2p worth would be a slightly extended pro division with 128 entrants giving an even number for straight double elim knockouts. But this is so obvious lol. But thats a big jump from 96, so see how many actually put up the dough. One questions, although not important enough for me to email, would be whether players would be offered a "second chance" if paid up members no show 2 events in a row. Extending to 128 is an option but requires an exra 6 hours of table time, probably on the Friday meaning the event would have to start at 1.30 pm Friday. One thing we will not compromise on is the races (i.e. no less than 9) and the 2-division/3-tournament format. We will have a concept of reserve players who could step in to tournaments if tour players are unable to make the event for any reason but we have not considered any penalty for 'no shows'.

the thing is, it wouldnt be worth a player entering if they could only make 2-4 tournaments per season, as they would be paying for a tour they were not playing on, i think this reduces the chance of no-shows unless there is a specific reason.

I think it would be a good idea to allow 'reserve' players to step in if guys on the tour couldn't make it to an event (this would keep the field the same and reduce the number of BYEs into the next round).
If someone has paid to go on the tour and doesn't turn up to any events then I think that should be their decision and not have any penalty. The main penalty they will be getting is risking their position on the tour and wasting the money they've already paid.
However, if someone doesn't pay their second or third installments then I feel that the GB9BT should have the authority to throw them out (lose all ranking points) and get a reserve player in.
For the 128 extended field, my opinion is to keep everything as it is now and get this established. In a tour, you want 96, or even 64 or 32 dedicated players who will turn up to every event instead of 200 who rarely turn up.

i see no reason for a penalty for a no show.....at the end of the day if the player as paid all is fees, its his/her choice if they decide to miss the event for whatever reason....imho...
from point of view if an event were to be scheduled the same time as an eightball event carrying more prize money then i wouldnt attend the 9ball tour stop thatb particular weekend....

i agree definatly with the "it should be 96, 64 or even 32 players that turn up to every event" thing you said mick, hit the nail on its head.
And i also beleive that they already have said that if a person does not pay his 2nd/3rd instalment then they will have the authority to throw him/her out unless they pay up, and not let them into another tour until the outstanding balance has been paid

I agree that if a player has paid his fees up to date as required but cannot make an event there should be no penalty providing they inform the organisors beforehand so they can allow someone else to take their place. So when I said 'no shows' I meant 'didn't turn up and didn't have courtesy to let us know beforehand', which is different to 'not able to come due to other commitment'. Keeping the format and structure is a good idea, my idea for 128 players was more to accomodate extra players rather than really considering the table times so that is probably better.
Having reserve players is fine, but would players be interested in turning up for one event on a one off basis and be prevented from going to other events and gain additional ranking points? Some would, but most would probably wait until a full place was on offer the next season.
It may be an option for the future on having two tours top tier and challenge tier where 64 of each tier play separate events and aim for qualification into the top tier of the game i.e. the first tour. This would be appealing to Rileys as more clubs could be involved.
