The rack and roll open is going quite well, a few early runners in the form of john beesley, tommy donlon and rack and roll whipping boy ricky boswell. With a competitive field being whittled down in the group stages, the last 16 should be quite exciting. Last 16 draw and score updates will follow.

last 16 draw
Bartek Czapski v Tommy Donlon Ricky Boswell v Mick Jones Gary Stewart v Ben Moore Adam Jackson v Rich Bennett John MacDonald v Tim Singh John Beesely v Tom Bradley Matt Potter v Dan Harvey Dean Gamble v Chris Cable
After a tough group stage that saw players like Nigel Webb, Nigel Francis and Andy Mistry leave the open, the last 16 promises to be where the action begins.

Some very exciting matches in the last 16 with Dean Gamble and Ben Moore proving to be the big hitters. A special mention goes to the match between Ricky Boswell and Mick Jones who contested nail biting 6-5 match, with Boswell coming out on top.

Jon MacDonald 7 - 2 John Beesley Tommy Donlon 7 - 1 Ricky Boswell Ben Moore 7 - 4 Adam Jackson Dean Gamble 7 - 1 Matt Potter
some convincing shows in the quarter finals, with dark horse Jon MacDonald and Dean Gamble leading the way with very strong perfomances.

Semi Final Results
Tommy Donlon 9 - 3 Ben Moore
The good ship Donlon is at full steam ahead, powering his way into the final.
Dean Gamble 9 - 7 Jon MacDonald
A tightly contested match with MacDonald fighting all the way. But in the end it was Gamble who came through.
So that leaves the final as....
Tommy Donlon v Dean Gamble
this game went the way of Gamble in the group stages, so this should be a pretty exciting match.

Final Score...Donlon 11 v 3 Gamble - the man is a class above.
Thankyou to everyone who participated especially the players that travelled to play in our comp. 40 runners is an amazing number for our club and i'd like to think all 40 had a good day and value for money.
Big thankyou to pro9 also.
Goin' home now.

Very good day my friend.... lets hope we have more like it... well organised with what we have at the Rack... we don't normally expect over 25, let alone 40 !
Cheers, really enjoyed it Ben, thanks also to Dave. Stuck it out to the end, even with the dodgy compair 'Mr Knight'.
And Goodnight.

cracking tourney and well run also. nice one to all the peeps at rack and roll well worth the travel (only hour and half for me but still!) even if i did go crashing out in the prelims liking the club atmosphere, makes a massive difference to have people interseted in pool running a pool club!! rielys are all well and good, the have the facilites, pretty good tables (alot of the time) but very rarely have an 'atmosphear'. im up for the next one, keep us informed

thanks ironarm, it was good to meet you. The only downside to all of the staff being interested in pool is that they ALL wanted to play...i think we managed though. We'll definatly look into doing another in the future.

Whilst i cannot promise a pool atmosphere from the staff as good as it was in leicester (my other half works behind the bar in rileys so i hope she doesnt read this or i wont be getting any dinner tonight lol), i can promise that every effort will be made to make sure the tournament in coventry on sunday 18th will be a success and enjoyed by all. Only £5 to enter, although unlike the tournament held in leicester this weekend there wont be any added to the prize fund unfortunately, such is the 'tight' way of rileys!
