Speaking of Appleton...I'm sure as an ex-English 8-ball player, he'd be better equipped to handle the unique pressures of a team event than most, especially when you consider the amount of team events (Worlds, Euros, Home Int etc) on that circuit? very very good point i feel it is different pressure playing in a team and i think you are right that he could be a good bet to handle but i cant see him getting in

Europe: Hohmann, Souquet, Stalev, Chamat, Peach & Appleton
USA: Matlock, Owen, Nevel, Deuell, Adkins & Strickland
i.e no Morris, no Immonen, no Williams, no Fiejen.
That surprising if that is the confirmed line up for USA? What about the American Captain Johnny Archer? He been in almost every one the comps so i would have thought he be in it unless ipt stopped him i suppose. [ This message was edited by: Kyo on 2006-09-01 14:16 ]

!!! QUOTE !!! Cusack_147 ---Not a bad side, lets be honest, but if you were to make it a British team you could have Tommy Donlon instead of Raj.
A week ago in Newport, Tommy Donlon was an Irishman now you want to make him a Brit ?????

In golf, when Great Britain & Ireland play together everyone just refers to them as Great Britian cause its quicker and easier. I thought the same would apply here, sometimes its easier and sounds better just to use an abbreviation or a shorter name. p.s. Malaguista send my dearest apologies to your wife. Hello, Well I don't know about everyone else but I'm not sure whether I'm happy that Corey Deuel is back or not. I mean let's look at this logically- he's one of my favourite players, has near-divine talent and an awesome Mosconi Cup record... but he's also on the team that I want to lose!! In any other competition I'd be pulling for him but not the Mosconi Cup! Edit: I really need to read the whole press release before commenting in the future. Doh! Thanks, Chris. Great to see Imrans been reconised for his talent and rewarded with a spot.
As i said before there is probably 5 other UK players who it wouldnt have been a total surprise to see included. I reckon next year there will be at least 2 Uk players in the team.

cusack_147 I think you are refering to the collective "Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Tommy is from Republic of Ireland which is different altogther.

Tricky,
Who do you think are the other 5 UK players that wouldn't be a surprise inclusion in the mosconi cup then??

Crazycue, I think Mark Gray should be in the Mosconi Cup for one due to his consistence this season. I agree with Irman being in the team as well, as he is our shining star on the EuroTour and deserve the spot. Shame there isn't a Junior version of it considering the young talent we have, like Matt Lawerence, Tony Burton, Phil Burford, sorry if I've missed anyone off. ----------------- Justin On the comeback trail! Jaz,
I agree with what you say about Mr Gray - he is a good player and ever so consistent. I think, since he started on the BPPPA, he has qualified for the Sunday every time - approx 23 events on the trot.
I just think he needs to have a little success offshore - a few weeks back, Shir commented on the same topic and said he needs to maybe do well in a couple of Euro events / IPT, then maybe a place would be available.
However, I do agree with Imran's inclusion. Always there or thereabouts in the UK and had a tremendous win in Europe.
Am really looking forward to it starting.

Its probably too late to continue this but..... I can't believe Mark Gray wasn't given a chance. I agree with Jaz, looking at all this seasons results including the odd trips into europe he seems to me to be one of the most consistent players this year. Not only that but his snooker tournament experience would I feel give him an edge over someone who hasn't performed on such a large stage.

huh? I like Mark very much.. As a person and a player.. But you can't put him over Imran, Nick, Ralf, Thomas or Mika yet...... Like I already said before.. He needs to play more outside of the Uk.. Get a name outside of the Uk.. When I'm in Holland and I tell them that Mark has won a lot of the BPPPA events... First thing they ask: Who is he? Never heard of.. When I talk about Imran.. Everybody here knows who he is... Or anybody else of the team members now...
I agree that he has been playing very consistenly in the UK.. But you need more to get into the team! Look at Oliver Ortman or Alex Lely... They are great players.. Alex won a lot of the ranking tournaments here in Holland and he won the Eurotour in Weert... but it's still not enough!!!
