Proven results for a while and 15 on BPPPA. Hard to see why he would not be at least in top 25. Considering he has done well for quite some time now looking back on results I find it hard to see why it would be a surprise if he stayed pro! That's true, ultimately whether you keep clearing up decides your ranking!

No guarantees MachineGun, believe in yourself!
I used to be sitting during games e.g. 7-5 up thinking positive, however the thought of, 'well losing 9-7 to this guy would not be so bad', would cross my mind, totally the wrong attitude and the real winners look like winning every rack.
Confidence to close a match is something many players don't have, and if you can run out under pressure it gives you a major leg up in your game, and you should do well.

I tend to get more nervous and play poor shots when ahead and trying to close out a match. I've been 4-1 in race to 5, 3-0 up in race to 4 and even 8-4 up in race to 9 and lost all of them. I think sometimes the opponent relaxes and realises there is nothing to lose and so there is no pressure on them anymore. I think the mental game of pool is the toughest to master! ----------------- Multiple winner of the Solihull Wednesday knockout competition.

That's hard going, I think once you start thinking "just make these for the match" your almost losing the edge. I try and aim for bigger areas for position than doing the natural thing and trying to make everything easy for yourself by landing perfect. Doesn't always work but it keeps you thinking about something other than winning. !!! QUOTE !!! Definately. Steve Davis hit the nail on the head about cuesports - play like it means nothing when it means everything. Only a good player knows how really hard this actually is. That's the challenge!

Going back to the original thread I would keep an eye out for a floater in the Challenge section. Watch out for Darren Kirwan aka The Wasp. Currently Cornwall's number 2 and recently showed good form in the annual Mongsconi Cup shootout at Rileys Plymouth (over the border), before time constraints got him eliminated in the semis. He has got a bit of previous as well having combo'd Salford snooker legend Paul Medati into oblivion and sending a couple of others into early retirement a couple of years ago in the Manchester Classic. One for the future maybe.

there are going to be a lot of players to watch out for in the challenge division, it is going to be very, very difficult to progress to the pro division.
Going on from that it makes the pro division more exciting as players will not want to have to play through the challenge division, to get back to the pro, as it is never going to be easy

Combokid, your memory astonishes me, as does the fact you appear to have lost your posting virginity.
I dont want to make up the numbers but fear I may do! Nice to see you have found the cornish flag on the options........Thanks for that Dave!
Being Cornish number 2 is of course an unofficial opinion tarnished by the fact that the current number one is a small horse.
Thanks for your kind words though! lol

A small horse he may be but I have never seen such cloven-hoofed dexterity with a jump cue in my life. At least I think it was a jump cue.......

Confidence to close a match is something many players don't have, and if you can run out under pressure it gives you a major leg up in your game, and you should do well. Oh, I've got the confidence. I know well I can play and expect that every game (which I understand isn't possible). But when you consider this is my first pro tour where I'll be playing against some top guys, and I've only been playing 9 ball for just over a year, you can't really expect much even with a lot of confidence. If I win a main event this season I'll run through the streets of Glasgow, naked, with an English flag painted on my chest and 'man love rules' painted on my back!! (Just had to correct myself there and put in the word 'main' before event, just in case I fluke something on the Challenge Tour!).
