well it takes some comparing to a 147 - and i dont think that there is a pool equivalent; due to the table size, potting difficulty and level of positional accuracy that is needed..........in shrt, perfection on a pool table is far easier to achieve than on a snooker table

Spot on!

The only way to get anywhere near comparing these is to have some data on how many times it's been achieved in tournament conditions. I'm still pretty sure the 147 will come out on top.

i wonder how many snooker players have achieved 150 and out and also how many pure pool players have achieved a 147

i also wonder how long it would take o'sullivan to achieve a 150 and out.......and on the same token, how long it would take any of the usa mosconi team to get a 147

maybe a bad comparison, but i have a feeling ronnie would reach the mark alot quicker

Anything involving Ronnie is an unfair comparison on account of the fact he is a pure genius :)

you're all missing the point of the original question. it's not a case of what is as difficult on a pool table as a 147 in snooker, you can argue all day over that. the question was 'what's the equivilant?'.

a 147 is the perfect snooker break. same as a hole in one is the perfect golf shot or 9 dart finish is the ultimate darts achievement. running out a pool match (be it straight pool or 9 ball or whatever) is the logical equivalent. you can't get better than winning the lag and then never leaving the table till you've won. whether it's easier or harder is irrelevant - like oz said, you can't find exact parallels in different sports.

wow...Everyone's saying a 147 is a lot tougher to make than running out a match. That's funny to me, to run out a race to 11 either 8/9 ball on non tapped pro tables is defo a lot tougher than making a 147,for the simple fact that every semi pro and pro in snooker has probarly made a 147 more than once. However how many of you semi pro's and pro's out there can say they have run out an entire match.i'll be suprised if there are more than a handfull of players in britain. So i would say that a 147 is a lot easier to do than running out matches. As for straight pool i would say that a high run of 300 and no more is about right.Again how many poolplayers can say they have shot more than that.If they have they have probarly done it a few times like a snooker pro will only shoot a maximum a few times.

Maybe running out a match is the same as lets say four centuries in a row very though and practically unheard of.

Nowadays a 147 is practically made in every tournament. But running a match out in pool comp isn't,therefore making a 147 easier than running an entire match out,am right here in saying this.
