19 years in Abu Dhabi/Dubai, most of last 29 years in total in Middle East........did all the poopie places first. I'm self employed charging exorbitant numbers of dollars per hour which I then tie in nice tidy bundles with elastic bands and give away by playing golf pros off scratch and giving 18 shots to Pancho Villa and his assorted gang of bandidos [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-11-19 12:53 ]

This was posted by Michael Emons yesterday in a different forum. I hope he doesn't mind if I paste it here: There has been a great deal of speculation regarding the location of the 2008 World Pool Championship. However, there has been a number of misleading articles quoting various sources. A venue for the 2008 World Pool Championship HAS NOT been agreed yet, although we are hoping to announce something in the next few months. Thanks for your time Michael Emons Matchroom Sport [ This message was edited by: spinster on 2007-11-20 07:15 ]

It was good to see you again Eric, I completely understand you feeling down arriving home that is why I decided to move here.
Great explanation of Manila but to really appreciate it you just have to visit. Dave and Natalie are still here with me in Puerto Galera, the rest of the lads Daz, Karl, and Butch are flying back today.
I would strongly advise anyone planning to visit to allow time to visit one of the other islands for a few days. There are so many places half or a third of the price of Manila (40p for a beer in a normal bar 60p a beer in a show bar)where you do not have the families on the streets and the beggars. The pool scene and the girls in Manila are great but apart from that it is not really the place to be.
Wherever you travel here more or less everyone speaks very good english and the people are some of the friendliest you could wish to meet.

So have you moved your family out there Lefty or are you on your own when all the visitors leave? Also did you find a job in the Phillipines or do you make a good enough living from looking after Daz and Karl etc.? I know the standard of living is dirt cheap out there but I still think it's a very courageous move to go there lock stock and barrel.Takes some balls does that!!!

No I will be by myself when everyone leaves although I have made many new friends here. Everyone speaks incredibly good english so communication is easy. If you come out here and see things first hand you will realise why I moved here. I did not see it as too much of a risk at the time because I knew I could always come back but now I could not imagine living in England again. With regard to the pool sponsorship the failure of the IPT has been a huge blow to me as well as the players so until now it has been a costly exercise instead of a profitable one.

Moving to a new country is always a risk but I did it 18 years ago when I came to live in Spain and never regretted it one bit. Knowing what I know now I would have done the same as Dave and gone to the Philippines instead though. Unfortunately, I am now too old to do it. Obviously you need some sort of an income but nowhere near as much as you need in the UK
