Stroker, i think you'll find that Daryl, Daz and all the players you named on page one are mostly all either English pool or snooker converts to 9 ball.........

Willie hey willie i like your style, you speak a lot of truth there are far too many people caught up in the pred hype and dont understand what makes a good pool cue, first and foremost the butt must be well balanced, then its the quality of the wood used in the shaft, and 1 piece shafts = more action. paul.. well done deano. have a biscuit. those guys may have played english pool/snooker at some point. you telling me that anyone i named before isn't a serious pool player now? is the current world champ not an american pool player? there's a reason why they use pred technology... cos it's excellent. u want to recommend that a player learning the game should buy a trash cue then be my guest. if you don't realise that having the best cue you can afford will benefit your game then you're foolish. fancy a money match willie or deano? me and my pred vs whatever you're using? people who have this 'anti predator' thing really bug me. mostly they are poor players who have no understanding of the game therefore have no understanding of the benefits offered. is anyone prepared to say that £85 would be better spent on a rubbish bottom end cue than a pred shaft and a butt to fit it? speak now... you telling me that players such as ralf souquet and dennis orcollo have just bought into the hype and use pred shafts for a giggle? if you have more knowledge of the game than these guys then i bow unto you. somehow i doubt it. no one is suggesting he buys a trash cue,i think you missed the point i was trying to make, if you can handle the deflection then a 1 piece shaft is better, by the way imran has gone back to 1 piece with his new cue and says theres more action and he says he wants to stay with 1 piece if he can master it. paul..

Stroker, read my initial post again. You'll find that I said that instead of just buying a predator shaft, for the player to find a cue that suits HIMSELF, that is the point of my initial post, but I use that term loosely in the sense that it doesn't necessarily have to be a complete new cue, it could be a high end shaft that is made to fit the same joint pin as what's on the cue stick a player may already have. Remember, each player is as individual as the next, and there's no argueing that point As reguards your post of any players who aren't keen on predator not having any knowledge, is the basically saying that it's not cool for a new player to go out there and try out different cues I personally have a Carolina Custom cue with the standard single piece shaft, and I'm perfectly happy with how it plays, but how my cue stick hits, may not suit another player and so it makes more sense for any new players to try out various cues, shafts, etc, before spending any cash so that they'll be able to have the best chance of finding a cue that they play best with and are also comfortable with. Also, it doesn't have to be a predator shaft, it could be an OB-1 Shaft or Tiger shaft, Terminator Shaft (By ArnotQ) or whatever, it's just down to personal preference and I'm merely giving a suggestion as to some of the options available and if you don't like it, tough. and willie, by all means he should try an OB-1 or tiger or any decent shaft. completely agree. just they're not as readily available 2nd hand. it's got sod all to do with being 'cool' as you put it and everything to do with availability and the stated budget. please read closer yourself.

what has hendry's cue got to do with it? you're just proving that you're a bit 'special' now and have nothing worth saying. go away. [ This message was edited by: Str0ker on 2007-12-29 13:17 ]

for the love of god. the guy asked for advice on how to best spend his money and that's what i've given him. you've offered no advice and just ranted about the old cliche 'at the end of the day it's the player not the cue'. you saying buy a trash cue to prove a point? i can pick up a stick out the rack and run out over and over again but it'd be easier with my cue. any player worth his salt will be the same. decent equipment helps your game. my opinion is simple (for a newer player with a tight budget) - buy the best you can afford. is that too outrageous a philosophy?
