I would like to enter the event as well but i would also be intersted in running it (not that i have alot of experiance but i'm sure that there would have to be more than 1 person). I run a small league that generated from a Junior league that i also played in, and it is run alright. I see your point about tournament directors organising and playing in events but it depends on who it is. As i said there would have to be more than 1 person that has to organise it so as long there is more people about to make sure everything is by the book. Then i dont see the problem.

Willie

If you ask that question on this website I am pretty sure I can predict the answer. Whether it's viable is not just about whether people want it, it's about the logistics and organisational issues of making it happen.... and you won't work that out by having a poll on here. You'll only get the answer to that by putting in a lot of hard work investigating and planning it. So if you do the investigation and planning and then arrange someone to run the actual event there is nothing to stop you playing in it. That's what I'm doing for GB9 so why can't you do the same for this festival?

Ads, send me a PM and We'll see what we can come up with :)

In the meantime, I would everyone on the site to post a reply simply giving a response as to whether or not you would like to see an even like the DCC, the disciplines I have in mind are 8Ball, 9Ball, 10Ball and Straight Pool, but these are not set in stone as I'm gonna be working around with various ideas on this :)

If players are looking for high end events, they're gonna have to speak up and say so, after all, it worked when setting up the GB9BT and Riggers, Shir, Si, etc are really doing something good for American Pool in the UK, and I think that it would be even better for American Pool in the UK to build on that and help to push the standard of play to another level and to help give the players more coverage and to give the sport more of the recognition that is long overdue :)

That's what I'm going to do, but as part of the investigation and research, I want to know exactly how many players would be interested in playing in the festival event, after all, I'm not going to waste mine or anyone's time and money for there only to be a handful of players turn up.

First, I'm looking to research on how many players would play not only in one or 2 of the disciplines, but in all of them, then once I can get a number of players that are genuinely interested, then I can move on and contact Matchroom and other promoters about getting the ball rolling to start getting into the process of setting up a tounrnament and finding a good and accessible location for everyone.

Once I can get that sorted out, I can then look to set up a team of Tournament Officials that are knowledgable and know exactly what is required to successfuly run a large scale event like this.

At the moment though, I'm gonna take it 1 step at a time and see how it goes, after all, if one doesn't try, then one won't get anywhere :)

Willie

Like Riggers said you can predict the answer, pretty much everyone who is everyone in the UK 9-ball scene would be willing to play in a high end event like the DCC, the problem i personally have is the same as alot of other people..where would the event be, When it was happening How much would the entry be, the prizefund who is entering...all the usual questions..if i lived in the county where the DCC was held in the U.S i would and alot of people from here would enter but it all depends on where in europe this kind of event would be, people have budgets and they won't play unless its a huge prize fund in a decent city and not too expensive to get there and stay there for the few days.

But to answer your post i would be interested.

Good luck

lol, i'm pretty sure that the plan would be to stage it right here in the uk, Needs to be investigated but i heard on another post something about the Alexandra palace where the world darts championship is at the moment would be a good venue and i think they just let you have it.

Venue needs to be looked into but there is definatly places right here that it could be held

EDIT

Post about the palace is here http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/viewtopic.php?forum=1&topic=1569

Can anyone of those going to DCC or those that have been in the past give a rough estimate of the basic cost to get there, say for a week? That's flights, accomodation, entry fees.

Thanks

Disciplines will be 9-ball, bank-pool and one pocket. 9-bal is the maine tournament with a max. of 192 entries, double knock-out til last 32, 30 euro entre fee, 10.000 euro price money, place 16 is 350 euro price money with a 3.000 euro first price. Open probably 24 hours with nightly money pool, mini tournements and ring games. This is how we planned to do it but in about a week the posters and flyers will be ready and we make things final.

Definitely sounds good :)

Will it be full rack or 9-Ball Banks?

Why not have the tournament a bit later in the year, say in around May/June to allow as many people to get time off work, etc, so that there can be more participants in all events? :)

Also, what about having your website available in English as well as Dutch, I was in the Ntherlands 17 years ago on vacation, and have forgotten how to speak Dutch, and I'm sure tyat there are a few pepole that would like to be able to check out the details, but are unable to understand :)

These are just some extra suggestions and enquiries that I imagine a few players are wondering :)

Hi Willie,

it probably will be 9-ball bankpool the first to bank 5 balls will be the winner.
The tournament site will be in English, aswel as German and Dutch, but it takes just a little to finisch that.
About the time if year, we planed this tournament about 5 months ago and it will be yearly around the same date and as you know the calander don't leave much space.
in the mean time i'll drop by on the forum to see if i can answer some questions.

Harry

Yeah, I know what you mean about selecting a good time frame :) lol, there seems to be a pool tournament on somewhere everyday of the week for crying out loud :) lol

It's great though that you'll have the tourney website in English, Dutch and German, and it certainly looks like you guys have got an awesome event lined up :)

I'm glad that you have opted for 9ball banks as this can be less time consuming as reguards match length and overall tournament time :)

It's a pitty that you hadn't mentioned on here about you guys planning the event much sooner, but at least it's another event that can be added to the Pro9 Calendar :)

Another good thing to have in the event is both online and on site better, (If possible) as this may help to draw bigger crowds and therefore help get a bit more income for the club with people buying food, etc :)

It's been great to hear from you Harry and it's great to see you guys working some magic in the Netherlands, hats off to you guys and I wish you the very best of success with it :)

Willie

P.S. If you would like any extra input or ideas for the event, feel free to PM me anytime.
