they do last, i have no problems with any of mine and i will have had them 3 years after xmas.
I do suppose the 1 ball is more prone to chipping though (other than the cue ball) as it is the ball that is normally hit the hardest on break, unless you play a soft break lol.

Balls shouldn't chip because of breaking, my 7 ball chipped because someone it came off the table at some speed.....

My 4 ball has a tiny chip in it also but i think this was caused when it hit a tiny screw sticking out inside the pocket.

It wouldn't suprise me if it was a SAM K-Steel table as the pockets on those tables are high maintainence Willie

I have a small chip in my brown 7 ball after a certain Mr Boyes whipped it off the table in a mini hissy fit at the scottish championships, last time i lend my own ball set out. Still surely he can afford to replace it now lol.

I know this because the club I used to work in, has the same tables and the screw that hold the side pockets in place, kept coming out and happened when I got my new cetennials, to which the same thingt happened, were one of the balls had a very small chip out of the ball, which oddly enough was the 7 ball of the set also, and as one can imagine, I was seriously angry off as I had only gotten the Centennials in the mail earlier that week. Sam K-Steel tables are a good quality table with the exception of their drop pockets, on which they use wooden facings which are frickin useless and the rubber drop pockets are high maintainence, to the point that the screw fixings on the rail itself, tend wear away quite quickly, which results in the pockets dropping out repeatedly because there's no screw fixings to hold the pockets in place and if there are, the rubber pockets are too thin, which makes it easy for screw/bolt heads to sit out and therefore ball sets get dings and chips more easily and frequently. If given the oppertunity, I could soon be able to give SAM Billiards details on how to make the K-Steel a much better tournament table, but the quition to ask is, is it worth my time and effort? Exactly, which is why I question whether it would be worth my time and effort? I think that table manufatures could learn alot from players as to what player like/dislike about their products, that way the companies can improve the standard of their equipment, therefore improving the standard of pool playing overall Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2007-12-18 16:51 ]

Which is why pool is much slower at progressing as a professionaly recognised and organised sport, than other sports out there Untill the industry are willing to LISTEN to the players, pool as a sport is going to take alot more time for the sport to progress towards getting the recognition and the rewards that it deserves. Just look at how many snooker players play Pool. With the exception of Selby (8-Ball) and Drago (9-ball, although admittedly he has not been a top 16 player for a while now) not many bother with it.
If prize money was equal, the top cueists would play for definate (I would hazard a guess at maybe half of the top 16). That is the only thing that will bring on the game of Pool but unfortunately, players like me will be squeezed out of the top tour if that happened, so as long as the grassroots are looked after then I'm all for it.

Hitler could have been in the market for one apparently, according to the old war time song, as he only had one - I think Goerring and Himmler must've played English Pool though, and Goerbles would have needed a full set! [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-12-22 09:13 ]
