QUOTE !!! it sure looks that way.... so here is my first question: it seems like Sam Billiards is causing some complaints with players.... how is that? what is wrong with these tables? To be honest, i dont notice a problem with them but that may well be because i havent ever played on a different table. I have a feeling that it might well be something to do with the reaction you get from the rails/slate etc, although dont quote me on this because i am not 100% sure.

One thing I don't like about Sams is the quality of the pocket backs / surrounds. There is a piece of raised black rubber / plastic that get's in the way of cueing. Also these black rubber / plastic fittings are held in place by a small screw that often comes dislodged or breaks away leaving the pocket back hanging off. They are just not nicely finished IMO. I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with the tables and brand new, well maintained K-Steels play very well.
It is a lack of maintenence of the tables that causes the problems - inconsistent rubber, poor cloths, not leveled properly.
The majority of clubs cannot financially manage to maintain the standard of the ables all of the time. What I think is required is a change of culture into how the tables should be used.
British youngsters (and I am generalising so don't lynch me!) on the whole are not taught how to treat the tables in the club environment - unless they play seriously. This should be addressed.
I agree with Riggers the pocket surrounds are annoying!

I completely agree. Being only 20 and having played people at my local rileys, people have no respect for the tables. People (used to) smoke whilst shooting, getting burn marks and ash on the tables. Its the same with in housse balls. Some of the standard are absolutly shocking where it looks as though people have taken bites out of them, this is because half of the people that play dont give a darn about the condition. I appreciate you have the most honourable of intentions, and I value every member of our forums VERY HIGHLY, but you must understand that the operation and development of this website is primarily funded by our own shop, www.TheProShop.biz and whilst it is establishing itself we don't accept or permit advertising of other suppliers at this time, either in the forums, or on the website itself. I appreciate this isn't your intention, but at the same time, I don't want to encourage a list of our own shop's competitors appearing here, just as you don't see Tesco advertising within a Sainsburys supermarket - YET! Perhaps members can reply in general without being particularly specific, or even by private message. If you or Rudy would like to chat sometime then please feel free to call me by phone, on MSN, or Skype, I'm big and friendly - honest! You're just too nice at times BigD I'm just trying to imagine how that response might have been worded if it had been the forum admin over at the popular English Pool forums. Quite differently I expect!

To go back to the original question, I assume you are referring to American Pool? If so, since the game is not really that big over here compared to English Pool or Snooker there aren't really that many suppliers specialising in it. You'll find a few if you google it. To be fair I'd expect the Pro9 shop to corner this small market soon because most American Pool enthusiasts come here and their prices cannot be beaten.
Casual players are most likely to play in Rileys and if they have an American Pool Cue the chances are they purchased it from the small offering of products in the cabinet in their local Rileys club. This stuff is really for the lower end of the market so does not compete with Pro9 who offer the best professional quality products.
Now, if you are talking about English Pool or Snooker, there are lots of suppliers all over the UK and I think it would be difficult to pick one that dominates.
