QUOTE !!! will it be a league format or 1 big comp i presume it'll be similar to the uk8ball county setup where its split into regions with several counties in a region each playing each other home and away in a league format. then i'm guessing that the top two(?) in each region go on to the national finals

the regional idea sounds like the most sensible idea to me, it does work fairly well in the uk game from what i have seen.
Would each county team need an organiser etc to pick available players etc?

good idea but when will these matches be played
there seems to be a tourney on somewhere every weekend and add to that the top players going round the world i think we may struggle for time ???

All this talk about regional events and inter-county stuff similar to english pool would be great but we have to remember english pool have thousands of players nationwide whereas there ae only a few hundred American pool enthusiasts in the whole country. In my county, South Yorkshire, I can name on one hand all the decent players In know of. I'm not saying it's not a good idea to look at ideas like this but I think you have to keep your ambitions in perspective.

you make a valid point riggers about the number of players, but this could be a great way to attract newer players to play competetively and increase the participation in american pool

small qualifing events all round the country with small entrys £5-£10 with winners going to a larger region final (buy in £50) then reginal winners going to nationa lfinals (buy in £100) that way EVERY one in the country would stand a chance it caters for EVERY type of player ie the guy who likes like to play for fun (cheap qualifer) to the pros who are willing to put money in to comps) but the qualifers HAVE to EVERY where and advertising has to be heavy making sure all pool players (enlgish pool players too) know that these types of comps exist by making the comp accessable to more people makes it more of an achivemnt to win it in the end too if i had the time/money/contacts this is how i would go about promoting pool but what do i know

That is why I am trying toput this together to attract more interest, I think when I first startedplaying uk 8-ball the county scene was notvery big but soon became massive and I think we have nothing tolose to try it out, and hopefully this can benifit pool in this country and help the tours over here. They will be regionilised and a nominated captains will select the teams from the namesput forward,I am stillputting together a format/s and will let you now soon. On the too many tournaments thing, we will have to do all we can it is better to have than not and if one county team has a top player missing then so will the others this will then giive the fringe players a chance but we will do our best to avaid.

I agree Riggers that the American Pool players in the UK are limited but in my experience this market is growing rapidly.
I am now selling 20-25 American Pool Cues each month to brand new customers. From the research we do it seems that a number of these are snooker/uk pool players that want to try the "better" game.
