Maybe I'm just paranoid but is there any chance that coversations relevant to this thread could be conducted via PM? I'd hate to think that the privileges that players have enjoyed due to the understanding of certain Rileys clubs, and managerial staff, might be threatened if someone saw this and thought of reminding them of current Rileys policy.
In fact I'd prefer it if this thread disappeared altogether (admin??).

Mr Paranoid.

Lol, If you didn't want people to read the thread then you shouldn't add to it.
Anyway, I don't know why people think they should be entitled to free play. What have you done to earn it?
I ran a competition for 2 years that attracted people from outside the clubs normal catchment area. The 25 or so people who regularly attended spent money at the bar that Rileys wouldn't have got if the competition wasn't there.

free table time from club to club varies, one club may not allow it all some do. I at the moment get 50%disocunt off my table fee for hourly rate, but this is after i have played at the club for 3 years nearly everyday and paying 5.50 per hour, but after having a word to the manager he agreed to give a discount..at the end of the day they know they will make more money out of me anyway as i will stay longer and buy more food drinks etc..i wouldn't get free table time tho.

i always play for free wherever and whenever i like. i find it very cheap and i can play for as long as i can remain awake. the only downer is that i have to play in total darkness and with no balls but at least its free!

To be fair i have not earnt the right to get free table time, but being on the pro tour for the past 5 events i just thought i would try it on down at my local pool hall to see what answer i got. The answer was good but only for a couple of months then it stopped. GUTTED!!!!
I think maybe Mr Paranoid is the new area manager around my neck of the woods so i think we should all maybe not add to this anymore.
Thanks for your opinions and views.
Mr I have to pay to play pool!!

I've cleaned tables for free table time before now - no shame in that!

Does anyone out there get free table time at Rileys (apart from you Deano) as i have just had mine cut down from unlimited time to 1 hour per day!!!!
Apparently where i live we have just had a new area manager and he has put a stop to it.
Does anyone know of any other ways around getting free play??
Cheers There is a way round this If you offer to do things around the club in exchange for free table time ie handy man work, tip club cues, clean tables all tables including snooker (brushing, bloking and ironing), fixing broken tables, chairs, also if you have a good Knowlegde of the game why not offer your helpto run a kids or youth club in the club during the summer, help run any Leagues or comps that thay want to put on in the club. There are many things you can do if you put your mind into gear and think. Then go and talk to the manager, if can save him or her money thay will seriously think about what you are offering. I did it for 7 years and got to know a lot of good people.

I wonder why anyone should think that they are entitled to free table time without giving back something in return. If you do receive free time then in effect you have a sponsor and you should be publicising the club at every opportunity including wearing the club logos and making sure that the name of the club is mentioned in match reports etc. Blackref's suggestions are excellent and I am sure that any good Club Manager would be willing to cooperate in a deal.

Hi all.
Working in Christchurch, Dorset the other week and found- A pool club called "Strike" a plush club with a foxy barmaid and all you pay for is the drinks!!! I kid you not. 10+ English pool tables and one 9 ball, for 3 days I was a pig in poopie, trouble is I live in Kent. Could this be the a club of the future? Look out Riley's (you corporate leaches).
