The IPT has been mentioned several times in this thread. We shouldn't forget what happened when that tour started and more importantly what happened after it went into long term storage. Lets hope history doesn't repeat itself!

Good repsonses. :-)

Now does anyone know the answers to my questions raised?

Especially as to why their is a need for the IBP and why the Euro Tour is not run by the EPBF solely............(i.e. is it a seperate entity and making money.....so in that sense can be classed as "independent organiser"). ;-)

well its the same old story silky...same few will say there peace ..then there are others who are scared to say what the truth is...
the bare facts are simple with in anything oyu have freedom of speech to say what you want...im not totaly aware opf the pupose of this letter however it appears they have taken a leaf from the english pool players assocayion book...

we are the best tour in the world and are growing all the time and we have the best interest of the sport at heart. WHAT A LOAD OF B...,,. IF ITS THE BEST TOUR THEN WHY STOP PEOPLE PLAYING IN THE OTHERS,PROFESSIONAL POOL PLAYERS OR INDEED SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY IN ANY EVENT THEY WANT. what with 5k winner they think they have the right to stop you earning a living in other tours WHAT A JOKE...i agree with everything devil as said this as been going on for decades there is no way that this sport(cue sports) will ever get to the level it deserves when there are people in charge who think they can write this drivvel to the players and be respected.

Yep until a tour can actually give it's top players a decent guaranteed yearly income then they have no right at all to start telling the players where & which comps they are allowed to play in.... And where exactly all the money goes within the EPBF is anyone's guess!!

Am still in the dark about this "other" tour though! ;-)

Well said Machine, I know I can count on some not to sit on the fence watching while all others walk over them!

It's the same story with UK 8 ball, a dictatorship happening and look at the state that game is in with various governing bodies and rulesets.

You all need to wake up and smell the coffee before its too late.

I can assure you, you want to hope it doesn't go down the small ball shambolic route!

Well, as nobody seems to be able to enlighten us as to who's behind this new tour I shall have a guess and then I can see how close I was.
I think Mark Segal and UK Sports management have decided to up the stakes and move into Europe. They will start a new 8 ball and 9 ball tour with big names form both the snooker & pool world topping the bill.
The new tour will see the Empire Pool Tour rebranded as the European Pool Tour. I should imagine they have done a deal with one of the satelite TV sports channels, maybe even Sky Sports to show live coverage of the events.

.....Well you never know!!!!

Hold your horses folks! - your all reading between the lines and this is how rumours start and things get out of hand.

Granted - the email from Gre was a bit confusing, i have spoken to him today and explained the fact that its not the clearest of emails and he has assurred me that all will become much clearer at the next euro tour event.

i wont be missing that players meeting!!! lol

in fairness - the Euro tour is getting bigger and bigger and the only way it will get anywhere near what we want it to be (ie:big enough for players to be making a living) is if all the players support the tour.

Its common sense really - if you have 10 tours all with seperate sponsors and tournements the prize funds will always be limited - if you have ONE Tour, and all the sponsors recognise that this is the Tour that is to be recognised world wide with the possibility of continuous TV screenings etc then all of a sudden with that ammount of sponsors you will slowly get to a point where players will be able to make some kind of living.

Anyway - i aint reading any more of any kind of speculation until i have heard it from the EPBF.

Thats the Tour that gives the World Spots - thats the Tour i want to play on! .....end of chat!

Ossie

Ossie, do me a favour at the next Euro Tour meeting......ask the organisers what happens to all the extra money thats pours into the tour and EPBF events.

On another point, even if the Euro Tour doubled in players to 512 (for eg, which would be too many to accomodate over a few days play), you would be playing for what, say 10k euros (£7k sterling) to the winner.....hardly a mind blowing amount.

I can tell you where the money goes mate. It's no secret, it's a business, not a charity. They use the money to offset costs of running the tour, and like all businesses they want to make a profit.
