If this county thing does come under the BPPPA umbrella does that mean you'd need to be a fully paid up BPPPA member to take part? [ This message was edited by: SlowAdey on 2007-06-29 10:01 ]

Its not for me to say mate, just an idea thats all.....we need to do something to help the US pool scene grow and i think Millsy has something here.....and if it was a success then it could help to get more players to play on bpppa events......I mean if the bpppa pulls its socks up, which i am sure will happen very soon! -----------------

Millsy......If the interest is big enough for this to actually happen, i suggest that you contact Ted in order to try and bring this under the bpppa umberella in order to help make it "official"......you could still be in charge of this part of the plan, but it would also help the main tour too!
Dont post back saying you tried to ring Ted and he was in the shower etc etc (yawn).
You know where he lives so go and see him!
I really think this could be good for both the county thing and the main tour!
Thoughts people????
Hi Daryl, yes I totally agree with you and I have already thought about coming under the BPPPA umbrella and will try and contact Ted about it, I believe strongly that the county dcene will help US cuesports big time and will benifit the BPPPA in the future also. As for would you have to be a member of the BPPPA to play county matches then I would say no, this would put to many people off hving to pay £165 a year just for a membership, although we will have a minimal county registration fee per player per year but this will be small and this fee will be discussed with those players taking part as to what this should be.

If it is to fall under the bpppa umbrella would it not be beneficial to only allow registered bpppa players to play.
This would increase the numbers of bpppa members significantly and mean that bpppa membership could be cheaper, maybe £50?
3 times the number of members = 1/3rd of the cost??

The best way is that you pay fee for a team. Let`s say 200€ or... Than you put all this fees into a budget for teams at the end of the year. So you have motivation. And then you play final four or more for that money. First 3 get award. You can also make two leages. North and south and then best 2 or 4 from each league plays final rounds. You always plays at home and in guests. And you should have play all discipline. 9 ball, 8 ball and straight. In my country we play. 6 matches 2x 9 ball, 2x 8 ball and 2x straight. no one can play the same discipline. So you have to play different discipline. There should always play 3 people or more. 6 is max. If there are 6 then it comes 1 discipline for each member and they can play against only 3 so they have to play each 2 different discipline. Just an option I my country is doing OK and the players are sattisfied. And if you have a lot of teams there should be a lot of money for motivation. If you are scared that because of the money the teams will be (Peach, Appleton, Gray...) Then you can give a handicap. Only 2 Top players can be in one team... That is a lot to talk about. County teams will change every so often. What if a player hits a bit of form, gets chosen, then gets dropped after one match ... would they still have to pay a BPPPA membership? Needs a bit of thought...

I think it's a bit premature to link this with the BPPPA.

Ain't no way i'd cough up that much (165 or 50) to play county on top of alll other things that would slurp my pocket dry, make the county scene self sufficient through subs, spot the ball tickets raffles or whatever, Have some sort of secondary membership to the BPPPA so that it falls under their umbrella but county only members don't get full subscription and benefits. As I'm new, What do BPPPA members get for their money

8balltiger, if you are new I recommend looking out for forthcoming BPPPA announcements if you want to work out whether it's worth joining the tour next season. There are many improvements expected so info about previous seasons is not really a good benchmark for you to use.

I think what dazzler means is that for the future it may be a good idea to come under the bpppa.....you have to walk before you can run.
But at least we seem to be trying to better the current situation here, some good ideas coming through.

8balltiger as riggers has said this county set up has nothing to do with the bpppa especially membership fees, but I will approach in the near future to ask there thoughts on it. But for now please do not get this crossed with the BPPPA th e idea is to get more players into the game. A thought for all players up and down the country who are taking an interst in this, have you enough clubs teams in your areas to get a team league going that would be another ladder to the county teams and for players working up to the pro tour, the game is never going to progress without the local leagues and county teams help..
