South Yorkshire you say? - You want to be rigged in by D'riggers - He's one of the donny dogs ...ok he's from Barnsley, but the 'Barnsley barkers' doesn't have the same ring to it.

BTW Hertfordshire have a team that JC is putting together. Can't wait for it all to get started! ;-)

I know of Riggers, don't put the poor lad in Donny, He's a Barnsley Bulldog

Mark

I took part in the first Manchester open ran by the BPPPA a couple of years ago. I travelled up from Cornwall as I fancied a crack at something new.

Whilst that was my first and last event (I came 13th) I and a few others would be more than intersted to supply you with a team from CORNWALL.

I dont want to commit 100% until I know more about the structure and regularity of fixtures etc, but please bear Cornwall and I in mind when you begin compiling your final lists.

I hope you manage to crack it mate as i'm sure it will go a long way to helping the sport reach more people.

Changing direction a moment, the various swipes and comments about the decline of the BPPPA that I have read this evening are a great shame, if changes are needed then fine but some of the pool family should realise that airing their dirty linen in public wont help a great deal with securing interest from any potential sponsor reading the forums!

I dont really qualify to say much more but all I know is that 9 ball has a lot of potential in this country.
If all of the people with an opinion but no input bucked the trend and joined forces instead of complaining, this sport would be massive within 2 or 3 years.

Its very easy to point the finger, so I hope everyone appreciates your efforts to keep the ball rolling Mark!

Cheers

Darren Kirwan

The current County Pool Associations are affiliated to the EPA - an organisation that has nothing to do with the American disciplines including 9-ball.

So I think it is fair to say that yes anyone can set something up and call it county
Thats ridiculous. You have to have a governing body otherwise there could end up being several "county" organisations going at once, like other cue sports have.

As it is, it seems anyone can invent a pool team and call themselves a county player?

At the beginning I don't see any other way of doing it for most counties.

Problem with this approach is that you'll have some serious mis-matches which will spoil the competition - even with a good handicap system in place.

I think the best and fairest approach is if you are lucky enough to have a local league running over a number of weeks - then you are able to take the top 5/6 players with the most points/rack difference.

A county trial involving the disciplines of 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, 14.1?

That would be a lot of pool... :-)

seeing as i appear to be unwanted, can i invent my own county so at least i can play??

buzzfordshire maybe????

if anyone is looking for a half decent player (ME) then i would be more than willing to renounce my own county (middlesex) and prostitute myself and pledge my lifelong allegiance to any county that's interested!!!!!!!!!!!

i'd be happy to take a sworn oath and any initiation ceremony and even sign papers using my own blood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck pal. I had it done a few years ago and was one of best decisions I ever made in life and I now have near perfect 20/20 vision. So I can't use that as my excuse anymore :-)

Millsy......If the interest is big enough for this to actually happen, i suggest that you contact Ted in order to try and bring this under the bpppa umberella in order to help make it "official"......you could still be in charge of this part of the plan, but it would also help the main tour too!

Dont post back saying you tried to ring Ted and he was in the shower etc etc (yawn).

You know where he lives so go and see him!

I really think this could be good for both the county thing and the main tour!

Thoughts people????
