What do the top players use? Don't know what are you using Daz? Thought you liked the Predator. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-01-31 08:25 ]

I think practicaly all the top players use either a Predator 314 or Z shaft, the butt end of the Cue varies a lot depending on personal preference.
What upcoming tournaments you got planed now then Daz.

my predator ok
but z shaft on speed cloth i feel its catching me out on some aspects of the game if am not hitting the ball well my games shite, but when i used 314 even when i wasnt cueing my best i still got most of the pots that ive been missing with z shaft think thicker shaft and bigger tip way forward for me on speed cloth..also dont have to hit the ball as hard with 314 to get response only reason why i got z shaft was for tight bags on ipt with slow cloth which suited that equipment i felt...
also am going to elk master tip!
tournaments pal
ive got liverpool at weekend
then prague for euro tour
then dubia for world 8ball
then gran masters 8ball cambridge
then maybe valley forge states 9ball event
calendar pretty busy
hoping to get back to philippines april or may!

I had the same problem with the z'd. The 314's better, esp if your cueing's a bit off that day ... not that yours is! ... mine

I always used to play with Elk's on my snooker cue but didn't like it one bit for American Pool. It was just too soft and spongy. But I know you like to play with a very thin tip close to the Ferrule so maybe you won't have this problem. If you are going to experiment why not try a Tiger sniper (Pc should have one). They sound perfect for you. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-02-01 08:19 ]

The tiger snipers are a bit like moori's. If you're looking for a thin hard tip, I'd go with le pros as mentioned earlier. I've moved back to these from the moori's as i get on with them better.

i too use le pro mainly cause it was on the 314 shaft i did change to elk master for the same reason as your thinking daz cause thats what i use on my snooker cue but i took it off after an hour of practice just a thought !

The 32 seeded players in the 2006 World Pool Championships who are presumably among the top players in the world, used 25 different makes of cue between them. Most of them probably use the free cue that is given to them by their sponsor and this means nothing really. The best cue is that with which you feel most comfortable and which you feel helps you to play better. The truth is, that a top professional could use a broomstick and beat most ordinary opposition. Strickland has used a Cuetec for years and that is not a cue that most top players would normally choose if it were not for the $$$ that go with it. Just for interest, here are the cues used by the seeds in the last WPC. 6 Predator 3 Bear 2 Mezz 2 Southwest 1 Buffalo 1Corey Deuel 1 Cuetec 1 Edwin Reyes 1 Hontaluo 1 Joss 1 Judd 1 Keith Josey 1 KF 1 Kruger 1 Longoni 1 Lucasi 1 McDermott 1 Michelangelo Cavinato 1 Mushashi 1 Oliver Stops 1 Rays 1 Schon 1 Schuler 1 Szamboti 1 Viking [ This message was edited by: malaguista on 2007-02-02 11:25 ]

Very true Peter.
I am curious....who played with a Szamboti from the seeded players? Rodney Morris used to but he had a John Showman made. He has been using that since just after the Masters last year.
