£45 entry and £20 1 event players license is £65....... does anyone else think there is something wrong with paying £30 to last 32and £50 to last 16????
this doesnt even cover entry money.....
how can you pay 32 people in a 75 player comp that has no sponsorship??
i live in london and this is the reason i did not go to manchester this weekend.
surely its better to pay only to last 16, then the money would start at around £70. i know this does not cover travel etc but at least its the entry money back.

why they didnt play down to the last 16 on the saturday then players who qualified would get their digs paid for

unless you get your entry back i'd say it was a bit of an insult.
i remember a few years back the in a pro tour event doug organised (southampton i think) the last 32 payout was gonna be £25 so instead he did 4 lots of 8 man mini comps with £200 winner takes all!
so more games for your money!!!

I know that this topic has been covered at length before and I also know that the prize structure was changed because many players feel that if you qualify for the 2nd day you should get paid for it but...., with a field of 69 there simply isn't enough prize money to pay so far down.
The tournament structure should be flexible. If you have less than say 96 runners you should play down to the last 16 on the Saturday. And if you have less than 80 runners it might be an idea to play down to the last 8.
I think the low payouts we see at the moment will actually put of the lesser players as well as the top players as nobody is can see an opportunity to profit from the event unless they make the final.
With a prize fund of £2,965 I would have the following payout.
1st £1065
2nd £500
3rd/4th £300
5th - 8th £200
Still not great I know!

Couldnt agree more!!....i got to the final this weekend ..... and got £415!!!......now after membership and entry fee that isnt a good return for hitting the final, never mind the last 32!! If the money isnt there then the prize money should'nt be paud as far down the list...simple as that. The winner got £850....not even a grand! Back in the day when the pro9tour was around the winner always got at least a grand! Thats my thoughts. -----------------

80 or 90 The bpppa numbers are getting lower and lower...at this event there were only 62 players with 4 juniors and 3 ladies entered! -----------------

its a complete farce! im convinced the standard of players in the uk would increase dramatically with a proper Professional tour in place!
if for no other reason the standard of the field would be better. there are so many good players not even entertaining the events cos the set up is so bad!
With all due respect the standard of these events is average at best,i dont see how we can ever produce a world 9 ball champion unless this situation gets resolved! imho.
also surely to god the last 16 get paid which is on the sunday so it covers the cost of hotel and entry fee as the EPTdoes!
for a travelling player
hotel fri-£25
hotel sat-£25
entry £65(average member or not)
petrol-£20(based on other passengers)
food/drink
you had to get to semi,s to make £20
make your own minds up folks!

Surely the problem isn't the prize structure? Few would be complaining if 124 players turned up this weekend, because the top winners would have had a decent payout and the lower echelon winners would have been encouraged to return after receiving a modest reward for their loyalty and effort?

totally agree the whole uk scene regarding american pool needs re-vamping with the exception of the EPT which is very good

oh believe me dave i havent got all the answers! just that with the talent in the uk we seem to be miles behind everyone else and therefore need changes to catch up,and imho opinion an half decent tour wouldnt go a miss.

yeah sounds fine! i was refering to the original existing tours! the 9b tour as been going years the 10b tour if goes to plan will be straight away will be better thats my point the 9b structure as gone backwards

There’s simply not enough “professional” quality players in the UK, nor the media interest to have the all singing all dancing big money pro tour everyone wants. It’s still essentially amateur and as such the majority of the guys turning up aren’t looking to make a living, just play some competitive pool and feel rewarded when they do quite well. If you start charging these guys big entrance fees, make them travel all the time, and only give out money to the top few (Imran, Daryl et al) they’ll stop coming and go play the APN or somthing instead!
The more tours we invent the less attendances are going to be too …

it is all a bit pathetic to be honest ...
bump the entries up the firlds will get bigger and standard will get better....
at the moment unless things change the tour will die...
play to last 16 saturday then prize money start from 16s...
they cud run a plate for all players not reaching last 16 on the sunday...
