Anybody ever been able to get hold of the Aramith billiard ball restorer??
I have seen it on the Saluc website but dont seem to be able to find anywhere that sells it.
Also, is using these products the best way to clean the balls? I have heard rumours that putting them in a dishwasher brings them up like new but i dont really think i trust that.
Any ideas?

We've just received a HUGE delivery, including some of this very item... I'll be loading lots of new products into The Pro Shop tomorrow including this item. [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-10-30 11:26 ]

Incidentally, it used to be a good idea to wash brand new pool and snooker balls in soapy water before using them for the first time, as tiny particles of dust from the production process would occasionally contaminate the new box.
Although not strictly necessary any more, it's still not a bad idea, and can't hurt the balls, although I wouldn't do it regularly.
I've seen balls cleaned with all sorts of cleaners, but I wouldn't advise using anything that wasn't specifically designed for cleaning balls - let's face it, Aramith Ball Cleaner for Aramith Balls has got to be the right stuff.

I made a ball polisher out of a plastic plant pot some wool carpet and a polishing disk for a cordless drill. I use it with the Aramith billiard ball restorer and they come out looking brand new everytime. I glued a disk if carpet in the bottom of the plant pot (pot needs to be big enough to take 3 balls at a time) and more carpet around the sides no more than 2 up the side. Put 3 balls in the pot add a little Aramith billiard ball restorer onto the coldless drill polishing disk and place on top of the balls in the plant pot and spin for about 20 seconds. Take the balls out and dust off the remaining restorer with a clean cloth. Takes a while because you can only do 3 at a time but is you only have one set it's ok. I know this sounds like madness but I have been using my plant pot for about 2 years and only cost me a couple of quid to make. ----------------- www.themole.me

Anyone who cleans their balls with a plant pot is a plant pot if you ask me How can you be sure that rubbing them against carpet will not adversely affect the wear of the outer coating? [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-10-30 16:47 ]

MY BALL POLISHERHO HO HO Riggers u funny man But I concede you do have a good point about it damaging the balls. I did not dream this idea up in a moment of madness, I saw these on AZ Billiards.com made from white posh pots but exactly the same, it was going to be $100 including postage to UK. I thought, even I can build that. I used wood carpet instead of a manmade fibre as I thought it would be softer on the balls (no jokes please). I also think that rubbing the balls by hand (again no jokes please) could be as damaging because people will rub in an uneven manner and concentrate on different spots, whereas the balls are constantly moving in my plant pot and uneven wear may be avoided. I have used the same set of Super Pro Cup TV for 2 years and they have been regularly mistreated by the Locomotive and they come up a treat every time in my magic plant pot (Don’t even think about joking). Maybe Big Dave could look at importing the real polisher that I copied from the USA as I am sure there would be a market. Before people start asking - I only clean my own balls ----------------- www.themole.me
