Just wondering if any of you have any clue where the best/cheapest places to stay are?

also, as a side post - what are the dates for the 8 ball tournament?

cheers

I think you are meant to stay in the hotels offered by the EPBF. You should contact Gre.

There is no hotel obligation at this one, you can stay anywhere.

Last year we had a triple room in the event hotel + the price was basically competitive with all the other accomodation local to the event. Be worthwhile checking out the travel agents for cheap package deals. Being out of season they'll probably let packages for Malaga go cheap.

The price for the official hotel, Torrequebrada is 85 euros + 7% tax per night per double.
A triple is 120 euros plus tax.
These are good rates for this 5* hotel but we do not force anyone to stay there.
If anyone finds a cheaper rate for the Torrequebrada, please let me know.
You may find cheaper accomodation in Benalmadena but bear in mind that there will be quite a long walk from most places and it might rain.
The choice is yours.....

These are two other choices at a walking distance. I haven´t checked prices.

http://www.sunsetbeachclub.com/index.php (300meters from venue)

http://www.flatotelcostadelsol.com/ Less than 1km from venue on the same seaside road. Self containes flats...ideal for bigger groups.

p.s. Maybe you should bring your umbrella as Malaguista suggests

You are not obliged to stay in the Torrequebrada but remember that it is also the playing venue and it is very convenient after you play just to go up in the lift to your room to relax etc.
Sunset Beach is next door although that is quite a step away and as I have said before, if it is lashing rain you will get very very wet.
The price for a 5* hotel of 85 euros plus 7%tax is for a double room and that includes a very large buffet breakfast.
No , you do not have to be a resident of the hotel to use the casino.
There will be nine tables in the Casino so you might be in there anyway.

I just went on to the Sunset Beach Club site to discover that a double room costs 74.50 euros per night, it is not clear if tax is included or not.

You are right about the 148 euros for three nights, you obviously don´t expect to be playing on Saturday or you have a late flight back.

The price for Torrequebrada is 85 euros a night + tax for two people and includes breakfast but you must book through Gre Leenders to get that price.
The normal price for those rooms is as you say, a lot more.
At the end of the day, it doesn´t matter to me where you stay, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
But if you found someone to share with, you would be staying in a 5* hotel for 45 euros per night.
