Good luck to boyzi its not the easiest group with a first match of Chang but if he can win that then i really fancy him to beat the winner of Jones and Edey and i think he has a strong chance to qualify from his group.

If you dare to look a little deeper into the draws, there are some phenominal potential match-ups for the opening phase of this year's World Championships.

Oh, and please remember that these matches are dependent on the players winning their first matches. Allow me to speculate!

Group 6 on Saturday has the possibility of Efren Reyes playing Tony Drago. Could be the quickest magic show of all time!

Groups 9 and 12 on Sunday are difficult as I'm struggling to find a match there that wouldn't be good to watch! They could very well be considered to be the groups of death for this year's WPC - both have too many good players in there!

Group 14 on Monday has the potentially explosive encounter between Earl Strickland and Marlon Manalo.

Group 10 on Tuesday could have our own Imran Majid playing Thomas Engart. Methinks that would be a cracker.

Group 15 on Tuesday has the (major) possibility of a match up between Johnny Archer and Chao Fong-pang!

Only 3½ weeks to go until Sky+ melts down!

Best wishes

Don't forget I'll be there representing Scotland guys! They have, yet again, put me down as Swiss... starting to get a bit tiresome now! despite living in Geneva these days, I was definitely born in Inverness and definitely grew up in Poolewe in the west highlands... As far as I can remember anyway...

Jonni

Will you be wearing the kilt out there? ;-)

Good luck out there (and at the US Open!) - great to know we've now got 3 Scottish players at the WPC!

there are so many players this year.

Your most likely to have a tough second with Neils Feijen though Daryl, do it for the uk

Apologies, there was a slight error. In every group, match 2 is between players D and E and match 4 is between players B and G.

So, Winner of match 1 (player A or H) will play winner of match 2 (player D or E).

Winner of match 3 (player C or F) will play winner of match 4 (player B or G)

Sorry for any confusion.

John Schmidt -
i was always going to be an underdog in my first match but MASSIVE underdog here should suit me. No pressure - lots of practice, anything is possible.

Pat - tuff opener against Wojcich (eurotour winner at 1st attempt) but Pat may have the expereience over him i think.

Fancy Daz, Jonni and Jim to win openers no probs.

Uzzell Vs Tsudi - could be a banana Skin but if the tips good on Kevs Cue and he catches a gear - game over.

Boyzi will do pei wii herman

Raj - never heard of his opponent? Kiat?

Capaldi - tuff matc hagainst Alcaide.

The buzz starts now.... Im itching to get there now.
