25TH ANNIVERSARY OF DICK JASPERS’ SPONSORSHIP WITH IWAN SIMONIS
The Dutch 3-cushion Legend Dick Jaspers who just won last month the 31st World Cup of his career has just renewed his partnership with Iwan Simonis, the World’s leading billiard cloth brand.
Carom, and 3-cushion in particular, might be one of the most demanding disciplines in the world of billiard. And like for any other sports, Carom has its Legends. Dick Jaspers claimed his first World Cup title 33 years ago in Japan. In November, he won the 31st one of his career in Korea. One might wonder how can an athlete possibly stay at the Top of his game for so long?
This 59 year-old gentleman is currently Number One in the UMB World Ranking. And he has been the Number One most of the time these last 5 years. In Sharm El Sheikh this week, Dick Jaspers will be competing for another World Cup. And for this last event of the UMB 2024 calendar, he is still in the race to win the Overall World Cup 2024, which would be the 9th of his career.
Dick Jaspers isn’t the only Legend in this beautiful sport. Therèse Klompenhouwer and Frédéric Caudron are still at the Top of their career. This is such a great honour for our Group of Companies to build such durable ties with athletes that are making the History of their sport.
Dick Jaspers: “Iwan Simonis has been sponsoring me for 25 years now. For players, it means so much to have long-term partners that stand by you all along your career and I am still determined to win more and more titles. I’m also proud to be partnering with Aramith which is the World’s leading billiard ball brand. It’s great to have these brands as sponsors representing the Belgian-Dutch connection. This gives our relationship an extra dimension together with the sponsoring of Therèse Klompenhouwer and Frédéric Caudron.”
Jérôme Poncelet (Group Commercial Director): “This is an honour for our Group of Companies to support players like Dick Jaspers. We share the same values of excellence and consistency. Whether we are talking about our billiard cloths or billiard balls, our goal is to provide professional and amateur players with the best and most reliable equipment to enjoy the game to the fullest and reach new heights.”

TEAM ASIA CLAIM VICTORY AT THE INAUGURAL REYES CUP
Team Asia emerged victorious at the inaugural Reyes Cup, defeating Team Europe 11-6 in a thrilling finale at the Ninoy Aquino National Stadium in Manila.
In partnership with Puyat Sports, this landmark event brings Asia’s top players head-to-head against Europe’s finest in a high-stakes competition on the World Nineball Tour. The tournament is being broadcast globally by Cignal TV in the Philippines and Sky Sports in the UK.
Overall Score after Day Four: Team Europe 6-11 Team Asia
• David Alcaide 5-4 Johann Chua
• Francisco Sanchez Ruiz & Mickey Krause 3-5 Ko Pin Yi & Duong Quoc Hoang
• Jayson Shaw 5-3 Carlo Biado
• Jayson Shaw 5-2 Duong Quoc Hoang
• Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 1-5 Aloysius Yapp
The day kicked off with a nail-biting match between Johann Chua and David Alcaide. Chua’s dry break in the first rack gave Alcaide the early advantage, though a miss on the 2-ball left Alcaide scrambling. Chua had his chance to close the gap, but a twitch on the 7-ball allowed the Spaniard to seize control.
Chua managed to fight back with a clever bank shot, but another twitch on the 9-ball allowed Alcaide to take a 3-1 lead. Chua then pounced on Alcaide’s scratch with a 2-9 combo and levelled the score after a missed shot from Alcaide. However, a golden break from Alcaide brought the match to a thrilling 4-4, and when Chua scratched in the deciding rack, Alcaide secured the win.
