European Pool Billiards Sports Betting
Online gaming has been dominating the casino industry and as a result online sports bookies have been adding to their already well-established sporting events. Looking at NoviBet, you will see the quality services offered by these sites and they include high definition streaming services which allows you to watch your favourite sporting events live and place bets on them. Pool billiards has also recently been making its rounds on the sporting side of betting events and if you weren’t aware that you could wager on some of the biggest championship games, here is what you need to know about European pool billiards and sports betting.
The Sports Betting Glossary for Pool
Online sports books have a language of their own. Between the punter and the bookie, there is a passionate language that punters need to understand so that they can make the best wager possible. Pool and snooker share a common language; however these terms are somewhat different from other sports betting terms which include football, hockey, baseball and basketball.
Here are some of the terms you may encounter:
Odds – this is the payout prediction of what the bookie thinks the match will deliver. These are the chances of winning and losing.
Fractional Odds – These odds are most popular in Ireland and the UK. The fraction holds the value of the amount of the wager at stake and the other is the profit being predicted. The total is then the fractional odds which will be returned.

RECORD VIEWERS TUNE IN FOR DAFABET WORLD POOL MASTERS
A record number of viewers saw David Alcaide’s dramatic Dafabet World Pool Masters win live on Sky Sports, while over half a million fans saw the tournament unfold around the world on Facebook Live.
Alcaide won his second Masters title with a 9-ball banked down the table at hill-hill, the final shot of perhaps the most thrilling final in the event’s 26-year history. All six sessions of the tournament saw an increase in viewership and the final kept audiences hooked with more than three times as many UK viewers tuning in compared with 2018.
The tournament was also shown live by Matchroom Sport broadcast partners around the world, while a Facebook Live stream was available to fans in nations without a TV broadcaster and reached well over 500,000 users.
Emily Frazer, Matchroom Multi Sport Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to report that our Sky Sports viewing figures showed a huge increase on 2018. The live viewership increased session-by-session, showing that sports fans were staying tuned in throughout the tournament.
“Expanding the tournament to a 24-player field meant we could bring more top-class players to Gibraltar, and they delivered one of the highest-quality Masters tournaments we have seen. The final itself will live long in the memory but we also enjoyed four other hill-hill matches including a gripping match where Shane van Boening had to battle back from 6-3 down to defeat the Women’s World No.1, Han Yu.

ALCAIDE IS DAFABET WORLD POOL MASTERS CHAMPION
THE FINAL
David Alcaide 9 – 8 Alexander Kazakis
SEMI-FINALS
David Alcaide 8 – 3 Eklent Kaci
Alexander Kazakis 8 – 1 Skyler Woodward
DAVID ALCAIDE is the 2019 Dafabet World Pool Masters Champion as he won an absolute belter of a final as he came from behind to beat Alexander Kazakis 9-8 in front of a packed crowd at the Tercentenary Hall at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.
Both players put their hearts and souls into the final and left nothing out there but it was Alcaide, a winner here in 2017, who won the dramatic deciding rack to send his battery of fans into a frenzy.
Having clawed his way back from a losing position, at 0-5 and then 5-8, Alcaide broke in the decider. He ran out of position though with the five ball on the rail and attempted to swerve the cue ball and flick it down the cushion. It failed and left a great opportunity for Kazakis.
The Greek, under huge pressure, cleared the table down to the 8 and 9 balls but completely fluffed the positional shot after pocketing the 8 and left himself with either a bank into the centre pocket for the win or a safety.
He chose safety and left the cue ball and object balls at opposite ends of the table. However, seizing the opportunity, Alcaide banked the 9 ball down table and it rolled straight into the heart of the pocket for a magnificent victory.
“This is unbelievable,” said jubilant Alcaide immediately after the match. “I played that final for all the fans and my daughter, Daniella. Every ball I was thinking it was for her and I played to win.

Ruijsink Returns As Coach; Van Boening & Woodward Confirmed For Team USA
Johan Ruijsink will coach Team USA for a third time at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup and will have Shane van Boening and Skyler Woodward on his team at Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas this November 25-28.
Ruijsink guided USA to their 12th partypoker Mosconi Cup title and first in nine years when they shocked Team Europe with an 11-9 success at Alexandra Palace, London last December. Woodward collected the MVP award, while it was Van Boening who made the winning 9-ball for a famous victory.
Both players will return to the team in 2019 and will be joined by three further players to be selected by Ruijsink. As in 2018, Coach Ruijsink will run a series of training camps for players under consideration for selection, before choosing his final squad in the autumn.
“I am really happy that Matchroom decided to hire me again for this year’s Mosconi Cup,” said Ruijsink, who will have Jeremy Jones as his Vice Coach for a second time at this year’s Cup.

FOUR LEFT STANDING AT DAFABET WORLD POOL MASTERS
QUARTER-FINALS
David Alcaide 7 – 3 Shane van Boening
Alex Pagulayan 5 – 7 Eklent Kaci
Alexander Kazakis 7 – 1 Matt Edwards
Albin Ouschan 3 – 7 Skyler Woodward
AFTER 20 MATCHES the 2019 Dafabet World Pool Masters is left with just four players and what an exciting semi-final line-up it promises to be three European stars and one American go for the most prestigious invitational title in world pool.
The Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar is the venue where David Alcaide, Klenti Kaci, Alexander Kazakis and Skyler Woodward will do battle for the $25,000 first prize.
David Alcaide kept on track for his second Masters title as he came from behind to take down David Alcaide with some outstanding play. The Spaniard trailed 3-0 as Van Boening’s break opened up the table each time.
A missed carom by the American allowed Alcaide back to the table and he took full advantage with some outstanding shot-making. Van Boening got to the table in what was the last rack but it was only to extricate himself from a safety.
With plenty of support in the arena Alcaide was delighted with the win; “When I play here and I have my fans, it is totally different. They give me a lot of power. I was three down but I never thought I would lose the match.”

DAFABET WORLD POOL MASTERS: DOWN TO THE LAST EIGHT IN GIBRALTAR
ROUND ONE
Jayson Shaw (SCO) 2 – 7 Eklent Kaci (ALB)
Konrad Juszczyszyn (POL) 6 – 7 Matt Edwards (NZL)
Joshua Filler (GER) 6 – 7 Albin Ouschan (AUT)
Skyler Woodward (USA) 7 – 4 Fedor Gorst (RUS)
WE’RE DOWN TO the last eight of the 2019 Dafabet World Pool Masters as the final four first round matches played out at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar. The results seemed to favour the players who had won their prelim matches as only two of the eight seeded players won through.
In the first match, former World No.1 Eklent Kaci enjoyed an excellent 7-2 win over Jayson Shaw, aided by two outrageous flukes that won crucial racks. Both were almost identical as the Albanian had speculative attempts on a 2/9 combo and both saw the 9 miss at speed and move all the way up the table and drop into the opposite corner.
The first was in the opener and the second in the sixth rack and both proved big blows to Shaw whose table time throughout the match was limited.

DAFABET WORLD POOL MASTERS: SEEDS FALL IN GIBRALTAR
LAST 16
Niels Feijen (NED) 3 – 7 David Alcaide (ESP)
Han Yu (CHN) 6 – 7 Shane van Boening (USA)
Ko Pin-Yi (TPE) 6 – 7 Alex Pagulayan (CAN)
Alexander Kazakis (GRE) 7 – 3 Justin Sajich (AUS)
PLAY CONTINUED at the Dafabet World Pool Masters with four of the first round matches the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar. There was plenty of excitement with two matches going all the way as two-time winner Shane Van Boening came within a whisker of elimination.
David Alcaide enjoyed another 7-3 win as he coasted past defending champion Niels Feijen to keep on track for his second Masters title. The veteran Spaniard, a champion here in 2017, never really looked in trouble as he pulled away from the shaky Dutchman in the latter half of the game.
“This tournament, I remember two years ago I played not perfectly but at 95%. Today, I didn’t have a good break. It is very important when you play close to home to have the support from your home fans. When you play the World Pool Masters every player is a top player in the world so it doesn’t matter who you play.”

Fedor Gorst (RUS) 7 – 2 Naoyuki Oi (JPN)
Albin Ouschan (AUT) 7 – 2 Jeffrey De Luna (PHI)
David Alcaide (ESP) 7 – 3 Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (ESP)
THE NEW LOOK 26TH annual Dafabet World Pool Masters got underway at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar with eight matches over the opening day as the event included 24 players for the first time in its history.
There are eight seeded players who will enter the event in the first round while the other 16 competitors competed today in the preliminary round to determine which eight players went through to face the seeds.
The seeded players are:
European Champion: Konrad Juszczyszyn (POL)
Ladies World No.1: Han Yu (CHN)
Men’s World No.1: Alexander Kazakis (GRE)
Mosconi Cup MVP: Skyler Woodward (USA)
Previous Champion: Niels Feijen (NED)
Asian Champion: Ko Pin-yi (TPE)
US Open Champion: Jayson Shaw (SCO)
World 9 Ball Champion: Joshua Filler (GER)
Such was the high standard of the field that there were plenty of 50/50 games on the opening day. Alex Pagulayan, a former winner of this event, beat Wu Jiaqing, one of the favourites for this event, while young Russian Fedor Gorst, the 2017 WPA World Junior Champion, continued his emergence with a big win over Naoyuki Oi.
Albin Ouschan enjoyed a comfortable win over Philippines’ Jeff De Luna and in the final match of the afternoon, 2017 champ, David Alcaide beat compatriot Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. Both players had previously competed at the same venue a couple of weeks ago when they competed in snooker’s Gibraltar Open which Sanchez Ruiz particularly impressing against world ranked snooker players.
The evening saw a comfortable win for two-time Masters champ Shane Van Boening, whilst the opening match featured former world no.1 Klenti Kaci against 1997 Masters winner Earl Strickland. The Albanian ran out a 7-2 winner but Strickland was his usual incendiary self as he bickered with the crowd and did everything he could to unsettle his opponent but ultimately undid himself.
Commented Kaci, “I enjoyed every single moment of the match. I was happy to play Earl because I have been watching him since I was very young, he was one of my inspirations.”
Earl didn’t quite see it that way, “I can’t play I guess, that’s what it is. Those guys over there were sharking me the whole time. They singled me out over there. I’d like to see them do that in golf, they’d put him in jail.

PRO9 has established an outstanding reputation as Europes No.1 source for information on American Pool in the UK and Europe.
Upcoming tournament details, prompt match reporting, exclusive images by talented photographers, superb articles by expert pundits, active pool related forums, player profiles and a very sophisticated membership - basically, an incredible information resource for the American style game in Europe.
Since it launched, PRO9 has become compulsory reading, not just for the UKs pool players, but to hundreds and thousands of pool obsessives from around the world every single day.
PRO9s members range from professional pool players, cue-sports enthusiasts, club managers, tournament organisers, pool fans and aficionados, as well as various "movers and shakers" in the cue-sports field, including entrepreneurs in the wholesale and retail sector, as well as magazine editors and television sports promoters.
Growing more and more popular every single year, PRO9 is the best placed vehicle for the promotion of your pool club, billiards brand, associated products, services and opportunities in the truly massive pan-European billiard market.
