CAVALCADE OF CHAMPIONS TO BE CROWNED ON FINAL DAY

AFTER SEVEN DAYS of high-quality pool across six events, the PREDATOR Pro Billiard Series’ will enjoy a day of exclusively finals with four championship deciders on the roster. With Seo Seoa winning the Little Monster Women’s International Open and Oliver Szolnoki (HUN) and Zhang Mu-Yan (CHN) claiming mixed doubles honours, the Little Monster Men’s International Open is the final adults trophy up for grabs. In addition, the three titles at the Predator WPA Junior World Championships will be decided.

In the men’s it will be an Estonia versus Spain match-up as Dennis Grabe takes on Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. The big Estonian is on track for his second PBS title of the year, following on from his epic comeback win in February at the Kamui Las Vegas Open.

Grabe defeated Daniel Maciol (POL) in a shoot-out after there was nothing to separate them in regulation play. The Polish shooter jawed his second attempt and Grabe held his nerve for victory. Sanchez Ruiz was also in a battle, going to a deciding set against Bader Al Awadhi of Kuwait. The Spaniard dropped the first set 1-4 but took over in the second to level it and then cruised to victory.

The final is set for 17.30 on Tuesday.

In the Predator WPA Junior World Championships, Savannah Easton (USA) has a chance to improve on her silver medal from last year, as she defeated 2024 nemesis Sofia Mast at the quarter-final stage and then relegated Linnea Hjalmarström (SWE) to the bronze medal end of the podium, by 7-5 in the semi-final. Easton’s opponent will be Wang Ming-Ling, who was a 2024 semi-finalist. Wang took care of the USA’s Jordan Helfery by 7-3.

In the Boys Under 17 division, Jakub Chrobot (POL), a bronze medal winner last year, put paid to Estonia’s Revo Maimre’s hopes of a World Championship repeat as he ran out a comfortable 7-2 winner. He’ll have his hands full with Slovenia’s Maks Benko, who shook off some illness to defeat Wiktor Kaczmarek 7-5 for his seat at the final table.

Germany’s Felix Vogel has the golden opportunity to sign off on his junior pool career with a World Championship win after defeating Walter Laikre (SWE) in a deciding rack. Laikre overturned a large deficit but a dry break in the final game sealed his fate. On the opposite side tomorrow is Aoi Kanazawa of Japan who beat Eddie Vonderau (USA) 7-2. The Japanese junior, having reached the medal stages last time out, will be offering strong resistance.

The Boys U17 & Girls finals get underway at 11.00, to be followed by the Boys U19 at 13.00.
