2025 LIVESB.IO FLORIDA OPEN POOL CHAMPIONSHIP
Two of the tournament’s biggest names — World No.1 Fedor Gorst and newly crowned World Champion Carlo Biado — were sent home on a dramatic day four of the 2025 LiveSB.io Florida Open Pool Championship, as the Last 16 line-up was finalised in Orlando.
The 2025 LiveSB.io Florida Open Pool Championship — the latest Matchroom Major on the World Nineball Tour — takes place at last year’s sell-out Mosconi Cup venue, the stunning Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, from 5–10 August.
Gorst’s campaign came to an end in the Last 64 stage at the hands of Hong Kong’s Robbie Capito, who held his nerve to edge out the top seed 10-8.
Biado progressed to the Last 32 but was stopped in his tracks by Denmark’s Mickey Krause, who produced one of the standout performances of the tournament to claim the scalp of the reigning World Champion.
Mickey Krause
“I played close to flawless — just a couple of mistakes that he took advantage of. But even though Carlo just won the World Championship, I’ve always believed I can beat any of the top guys. Today I proved it.â€
Shane Van Boening kept his title bid on track with two commanding wins over Masato Yoshioka and Elliott Sanderson to book his place in the Last 16.
Shane Van Boening
“I felt sharp all day. Two solid wins keep me moving forward, but the job’s far from over. It’s about staying locked in and bringing my best for the next round.â€
Austria’s Max Lechner survived two nerve-jangling hill-hill encounters against Szymon Kural and Jayson Shaw to keep his hopes of a first Matchroom Major alive.
Max Lechner
“I was chasing in both matches, but I trusted my game when it mattered. Delivering under that kind of pressure feels good, and I’m proud to still be in the fight.â€
Former World Champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz also advanced with back-to-back victories over Filipino stars Lee Vann Corteza and Johann Chua.
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz
“I’m really happy to be in the Last 16. I felt in control for most of the day, and both Lee and Johann pushed me hard. The focus now is simple — take it one match at a time and keep the momentum.â€
