The price you have seen in dollars is the price you will pay if you buy in the USA... It's totally unrealistic to quote US prices here, because, and you know this already but I have to mention it here anyway, when you import valuable items like this into Europe you are forced to pay Import Tax and Customs Duty and Shipping Fees.
I don't know what your rate is in (YOUR COUNTRY), but in the UK we pay 20% VAT on items imported from outside Europe... That's why we pay more here for EVERYTHING from the USA and Japan - and it's the only reason.
When you buy from The Pro Shop all those expenses are included - the price you see is the full price you pay - no unpleasant surprise taxes and charges when your cue arrives in your country - it's delivered to you door with everything covered by The Pro Shop.
Almost everything in The Pro Shop is imported from the USA, or Japan, or China.
The price we offer is the actual correct European price - nobody in Europe will be able to offer the USA price because it's simply not possible to ignore or discount those additional expenses.
We all need to live in the USA... But then we would have that mad President and people with guns shooting all over the place.
In England we have a phrase, "you pay for what you get" - it means if you pay less, you will get less, in this case, a less beautiful cue, case, or accessory. (And perhaps with less sophisticated technology - cheaper components perhaps).
I agree, cues are over priced - there is a company making a break cue for £700!!! A break cue for goodness sake, it's unbelievable - What is even more unbelievable is the fact that it was our best selling cue of the year!!!
As a fellow lover of pool and cues, you have my sincere sympathy, although in comparison to other sports like golf, racing, or skiing, our equipment list is small and much cheaper.
If you want it, start saving - and fast, because you know as well as I, the new range of cues are not going to be cheaper!
I hope you win the lottery - then you can buy me a cue too!
