These are normally the friendliest forums in Europe too Skora!

I'm guessing Barry wasn't talking about the conflict that ended over 15 years ago, but rather the city in general... There were pickpockets at the World 9 Ball Championships in Spain's beautiful Malaga in 1999 - and thugs outside the club at a Pro9 tour event in Northwest London once, maybe that's the sort of thing he meant?

People are always asking if there's somewhere safe to park their car near the pool club... Any pool club in England. I think it's just a phrase we use. I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone here is trying to imply anything.

Barry said he's quite keen to visit, so I don't think he was being xenophobic or anything... Maybe he'll be there next time and see your beautiful city and experience the fabulous hospitality for himself.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is 100% safe for tourists and you shouldn't have worries about that. Only the citizens of Bosnia aren't that completely or 100% safe cause of bad things happens 20 years ago (independence war). I'm saying this cause it takes only a little bit to start fighting with each other, but we're not fighting all the time lol, but 2-3 times per year you can read in newspaper especially after football game, that some people were arrested cause of fighting in a pub cause of nationality reasons. BUT 99% of citizens of Bosnia and H. are hostile and don't get angry about things from the past.

I was asking how I would be treated compared to 'the stars'. ie do I and fellow choppers get picked up from the airport too? Or are we at the mercy of taxi drivers who wish to rob us because we don't know the area?

My friend backpacks through Eastern Europe and loves Sarajevo. He loved the food, the women, the hospitality, the city itself was great. And he said that it is one of the most religiously tolerant cities in Europe.

I'm not French, I am English. And trust me, I get intimidated in my own country. There is a lot of trouble as you may have seen with the riots. Although we are not all like that, of course :)

I'm sorry if you were offended by the way my question was worded. I assumed people would know how I meant it. If I feared for my safety proper, I would not consider going into a foreign country on my own where I've got no friends, believe me.

I am a Tournament Director. I wait for all guests who comes to Saajevo on airport, no metter if he is world champion, billiard star or someone who take a cue for first time. Tradition in Bosnia is to wait for guest in front of house. During the tournament, hotel and airort are my houses. Even if we do not have enough cars to pick all guests, we pay cab. Sarajevo is known as a town of different cultures and religions. It is known by hositality and food is story for itself. Regarding safety, criminal rate is lower than in other european cities.

I'm saving up to go! Looks like that is a summer bootcamp and Sarajevo, and possibly Paris Eurotour if I can save up enough :) Lamb to the slaughter but can't get experience against good players without paying for it.

there is a simple solution Barry. Become a star like Maharaja, or now Mark, or any other, and then u will probably have a regal treatment in Sarajevo!

very simple ;)
